There’s nothing we can say to change your mind? Claire appeals to her grandfather. Nothing, Victor confirms as Nikki arrives to ask what she missed.
That’s it! a frustrated Daniel wants to go to another restaurant for dinner. You’re fixated on Kyle and haven’t even looked at your menu, he scolds. Fine, Summer will stop – but, she’s concerned, not jealous. Prove it, Daniel challenges – let’s go.
In the jazz lounge, while they wait for a table upstairs, Mike tells Lauren what’s bothering him. Victor’s planning a nasty attack on the Abbotts – why can’t he just let things go and let them be happy?
Snuggling in bed, Jack and Diane joke about the renovation and agree that this getaway is just what they needed. They then decide to go to Society for dinner.
We just had an exchange of opinions, Victor claims. Grandpa just made it clear that there’s nothing we can say or do to change his mind on our relationship, Claire tattles to her grandmother.
Over drinks, Lauren tells Mike – I told you so/warned you about working for Victor again. What were you even doing at the ranch the night he was shot anyway? She’s holding the bowl of olives hostage – start talking.
As Daniel and Summer exit, Nikki scolds Victor for being blunt. He maintains that nothing Kyle said changed his mind on Kyle’s character, or lack thereof. Kyle came in good faith, Claire protests. Victor’s so sure that the Abbotts are headed for ‘disaster’ that Kyle (correctly) guesses he’s planning this disaster himself.
Arriving at the GCAC, Daniel leaves his Mom yet another ‘call me’ voicemail. Summer suggests she might be in Paris discussing business with Billy. Let’s just be glad her latest project isn’t one of us. Daniel finds their Mom’s radio silence ‘weird’.
Mike tells Lauren exactly what he told Chance – concluding with Victor ‘saving the day’. Lauren’s alarmed to hear that he refused to leave. You could have been killed! Mike’s only regret is that he couldn’t prevent Victor from being shot.
Nikki has to ask – is there truth to what Kyle’s saying? No, Victor’s just sure that Jack and Diane will self-destruct. Also, Kyle broke Summer’s heart – Victor won’t let him do the same to Claire. Have you ever sustained a relationship? Which is it? Claire’s curious – that Kyle will break my heart or that his family’s implosion will hurt me? If you hurt my granddaughter in any way, you’ll have to deal with me, Victor warns Kyle. Then, ignoring Nikki’s request that he stay, Victor heads for the exit – as Jack and Diane arrive.
