Phyllis shows up at the apartment with a peace offering for Danny. Darting through the door before he can shut it in her face, she weepily claims to have changed (thanks to his support) She also believes that though Danny’s fighting the feelings he has for her. Danny’s face reads ‘you’re not wrong’.
Running into Nate at CL’s, Chance speaks highly of Billy’s mentorship and wonders why he and Devon have a problem with him.
At Chancellor Winters, Devon tells Billy that he spoke to Lily and lists reasons why it’s not a good idea to add Abbott to the name. Jill will be very sorry to hear that, Amanda strolls in to say.
Please, tell me more about how partnerships work, Amanda’s sarcastic with Devon. Jill never brought up changing the name, he thinks it might be Billy’s idea. Jill wants him here long term. Why does it bother you so much to recognize the Abbott’s? You’re practically in laws now, Amanda takes a dig. Is this about Jill or is this about you? Devon asks. Billy points out that Devon’s the only one who has a problem with it.
Sitting together at CL’s, Nate explains that his problem with Billy is him walking away from CW to start a podcast, then coming back with something to prove. You had reservations about him mentoring you, he reminds Chance.
Danny doesn’t need this complication in his life. Chris is the complication – she feels threatened by our bond. Leaning in for a kiss, she asks him not to answer the door. He’s does so breathing hard. Of course it’s Chris (who couldn’t roll her eyes any harder)
As luck would have it, Chris has also brought Danny a gift – tea. Phyllis boasts that her gift is big, bold and red – the gift says a lot about the giver, doesn’t it? Having work to do, Danny asks them both to leave. On and on it goes. There’s nothing wrong with going after love, Phyllis says innocently. You don’t love Danny – you love making my life hell! Chris fires back.
Chance had reservations at first but Billy’s been a great mentor; his enthusiasm is contagious. Nate doesn’t want this to turn into an ‘us vs. them’ situation. With all due respect, you and Devon are the only ones pushing ‘us vs them’ – Billy’s never said a negative word about you – he might surprise you. That’s what we’re worried about, Nate quips.
After Devon leaves, Billy and Amanda hug. Devon doesn’t trust me or involve me in decisions, he’s glad she’s on his and Jill’s team. Since I’m now the bad cop, you can go play good cop, Amanda says as she heads off to the next item on her agenda – which should be almost as interesting as this.
