In a suite at the club, Nick sighs – Phyllis is really gone. Sally hugs him silently.
Sharon’s still in shock – Chance walks onto patio.
Phyllis’ death is one of a kind, Victor manages to say to Nikki at Society.
At the seedy motel, Jeremy tells Phyllis that there’s no turning back now – our plan’s working perfectly, and good for you – you’re getting everything you ever wanted. Phyllis seems to have buyers remorse.
Jack and Kyle have a talk at the house. Ashley and Traci are gone – Diane’s gone to the spa. Summer barely slept last night, her joy for life has gone. She’s consumed with Mom having something to do with Phyllis collapsing. They hated each other and there was that fight – it won’t look good to the police. Jack hopes they focus on Stark.
** Home safe n sound but much later than I expected. Thanks for your patience. I look forward to getting back on schedule as of tomorrow.
Hearing a knock, Phyllis wonders who it could be – no one’s supposed to know we’re here.
In room 158, Jeremy asks – did anyone follow you? No – Carson accepts a wad of cash and assures Phyllis that he convinced Chance that he was the sole survivor of the crash. He even made sure her blood was found at the scene. Yes, Chance heard you whisper ‘poison’ in the ambulance. Stick to the story, Jeremy shoos him out.
On the CL’s patio, Chris tells Chance that the fire made it impossible to do an autopsy on Phyllis’ remains but the blood sample that was drawn in the ambulance is being tested. If Phyllis was poisoned, by who? Diane? New husband Stark?
Chance leaves when Mike joins Chris on the patio. He’s clearly in mourning and knows he’s not the only one.
Summer wants the nanny to bring Harrison home – she’s done with grieving and talking about Diane or Stark. Kyle and Jack are confused when Summer has work to do – on something more important than Marchetti. It can’t wait.
Phyllis rehashes details – lucky Carson gets to keep his identity (and some money) The driver who supposedly died in the crash is happy to start over elsewhere. Two bodies from the morgue replaced him and Phyllis at the crash site. Jeremy thinks it poetic that they used Diane’s blueprint – to put her behind bars. And I’ll be wiped out of existence, Phyllis causes Jeremy to welp – I hope that’s not regret I’m hearing.
Summer tells a concerned Jack and Kyle that she needs to plan her Mom’s service. She deserves a proper tribute.
Sally’s glad she and Nick stayed at the GCAC last night – but how’s Summer? She needs her space. Nick reached Noah and Allie (who’re cutting their trip short) Faith’s gotta stay at school. Christian? Nick hasn’t had the heart to tell him yet. He’s having a fun day at the zoo with the nanny. Sally admires the way he’s there for his kids – but you need someone to lean on to. All you have to do is ask, she offers. Nick’s really gonna miss Phyllis.
Back on the patio, Mike tells Chris that Lauren is shaken to the core. This town won’t be the same without her. Chris had her issues with Phyllis but assures that as the DA, she’ll get to the bottom of this.
It wasn’t until the middle of the night that Mike turned his phone back on. Phyllis had left a message he thinks Chris should hear.
In the low budget motel, Phyllis tells Jeremy that her kids were frightened when she collapsed. How did they react (to her dying)? I’m not used to waking away from my kids (like Diane) Jeremy reminds her that she agreed to take it this far because her kids pushed her away in favour of Diane. They’ll move on – and Phyllis must too.
When her grandparents drop by the house, Summer alarms them by cheerily saying that she needs to plan a stylish and elegant memorial for her Mom. Nikki’s offer to help is seen as ‘coddling’. C’mere, Victor draws her into a hug. Nikki, Jack and Kyle look worried.
Nick talks about the spark that drew him to Phyllis when he was at the lowest part of his life; after Cassie died. He betrayed Sharon – but Phyllis was a lifeline at that time.
Back at CL’s, Sharon talks to Chance about her rivalry with Phyllis. Hate her of love her, Phyllis was a presence you couldn’t ignore.
Nick tells Sally that Phyllis was unpredictable, exciting, stubborn – she drove me nuts sometimes. She had a big heart.
Eventually Sharon and Phyllis became civil. It was when Sharon was undergoing cancer treatment that Phyllis surprised her with her kindness. She could be vicious but also full of love and compassion.
Nick’s romance with Phyllis ended a long time ago – they became good friends. It scares him to think how Summer will get through this.
Back at the Abbott’s, Summer’s sorry for snapping at her grandmother but must work on the service. She won’t abandon her Mom in death (the way she did in life) Offered a few word of support by Kyle, Summer heads back upstairs.
Declaring it time they part ways, Jeremy will look back on his brief marriage to Phyllis with fondness. She’s left half of her estate to her kids and the other half to Jeremy. You have a new passport and enough money to start over. And Diane will get the life she deserves – behind bars. Phyllis looks depressed.
Still on the patio, Mike plays Phyllis’ voicemail – warning him that Diane attacked and threatened to kill her. I’m actually afraid of that crazy bitch! After decades of hatred between her and Phyllis, Chris is astounded that she, Phyllis’ worst enemy is in charge of getting her justice. Mike takes her hand and barks out teary laughter – it’s almost like she planned this.
Victor’s still at Jack’s to express how worried he and Nikki are about Summer. Jack can feel her heartache. Both find it strange that the ambulance crashed/burned on Collins Road of all places. No, Jack doesn’t think his engagement to Diane has anything to do with it. If Victor wants answers, he should go to Stark. Victor agrees but wonders if he’s being asked the right questions.
Sally knows Nick will find a way to help Summer through this. She needs you to guide her like you’ve been doing for me with this pregnancy. She’ll come to you when she’s ready. Summer adores you – she wants to know you’ll always be there. Nick knows that nothing will ever be the same again. Sally hugs him.
Yes, Mike’s conflicted. It’s been hard being a buffer between Phyllis and Diane. Before Phyllis collapsed, she insisted on speaking out to protect herself. Believing that Phyllis was afraid of Diane, Chris wonders why.
Jeremy calls to request a car for one passenger going to the airport. Phyllis doesn’t know where to go. Pick a place, it’s too dangerous to stay – you’re leaving tonight, Jeremy’s firm. Looking depressed and adrift, Phyllis reads the breaking news headline on her phone; Memorial Service To Be Announced for Phyllis Summers.
