When Nikki finally joins the rest of the family in her office, Vikki announces that she has a new plan. All of you must play a role. For it to work, one of us must fall (she looks at Adam)
Seated at Adam’s desk, Ashland (wearing gloves) opens the laptop and starts typing.
Billy’s at home recording a late-night session for his podcast. When it comes to bad relationships, no one is immune.
Vikki lists the many reasons that make Adam a ‘perfect’ suspect for framing Ashland (a theory she already ran by her husband) Adam doesn’t take kindly to being thrown under the bus.
Love can completely cloud one’s judgment. Our ‘main squeeze’ is the be-all and end-all, even when there’s evidence to the contrary. The rest of the world can see it’s an illusion. What do we do when someone confides in us? What happens if you love that person – are we obligated to say something? Lily comes down – she heard enough to know that Billy doesn’t feel he’s doing enough to help Vikki.
It’s for appearance’s sake – you won’t take the fall, Vikki promises (like I did when I was arrested for tampering with Dad’s medicine) She needs Adam to be onboard. Mike arrives with the answer to their problem – there’s a morals clause that can nullify Ashland’s contract. Illegal activities void a CEO’s contract – he’d be out; no parachute. Adam lays it out – So Ashland sets me up – and we catch him in the act. Nikki reiterates; this would all be for show. Adam would need to stay on as temporary CEO. Vikki’s annoyed that Adam wants to keep her job. Tell your hubby that Victor insists on keeping Adam on as CEO because Vikki keeps siding with Ashland. When this proof emerges (that Adam framed Ashland) Victor will pretend to fire Adam. Adam gets an alert on his phone – someone’s breaking into his laptop. Ashland’s already taken the bait. Victor instructs Adam to give Ashland access. But first, will I continue as CEO???? he asks.
Finally, let’s see what we’ve got, Ashland talks to himself as he scours Adam’s laptop.
