Chance watches and Ashley and Jack stand behind Traci as she asks – Who are you!? Alan or Martin?
Phyllis meets up with Nick and Sharon at CL’s. What did Chance find out? Sharon relays that the cops found surveillance equipment and their phones at the farmhouse. Phyllis wants to nail whichever Laurent brother kidnapped them to a wall.
Sweetheart, I’m Alan, Martin insists. Ashley interrupts – give it up – we know Alan died that night and you took his place. That’s quite an accusation, Martin protests. It can’t be true, Traci clings to hope.
‘Alan, please’, Traci tears up. How could you do this to her, and why!? Jack demands. Ashley adds – you went after my sister while I was ‘tucked away’ in a hospital trying to come to grips with what YOU did to me! Martin bleats at Traci – I love you. I’ve made you happy haven’t I? He then blames Ashley – you put these insane ideas in Traci’s head because you were always attracted to me. To Traci, Martin claims that he meant every word he said to her. Jack’s heard enough – arrest this psychopath! For what? Martin’s astonished. Impersonating your dead brother for starters – but that’s not the only crime Chance is there for.
Sharon tells Phyllis that Chance is having finger prints tested. Hopefully, he’s getting answers as we speak. Both women admit that they’re struggling. Phyllis needs to look that person in the eye and say ‘you didn’t break me’.
If falling in love with the most wonderful woman alive is a crime, arrest me, Martin says. ‘You bastard’, Jack is held back by Chance. I’ve done nothing but love your sister; it was MARTIN who assaulted Ashley, he doubles-down. Say it one more time, Ashley hisses in his face. She knows with every fibre of her being that he’s Martin. God knows what you would have done to me if Tucker didn’t show up that night in Paris. I hope you rot in hell!
Chance needs to question Martin about a kidnapping (at the station) Kidnapping? That’s ludicrous, Martin sputters. You abducted Sharon and Phyllis, Traci accuses. The truth will come out and you’ll face the consequences, Jack again plays the tough guy. You all know me – how could you treat me this way? How could you misjudge me? Martin whines. Traci DID misjudge him and is horrified. Martin will go with Chance – to prove his innocence. I DO love you, he tells Traci. Was I an experiment too? she blasts him. After the ‘heart broken’ Martin leaves with Chance, Traci’s left to be consoled by her siblings.
Have faith – Chance is close, Sharon reassures Phyllis. If this is Alan or Martin Laurent, our nightmare will be over – Traci’s is just beginning. Phyllis hopes she’s not in danger.
In an interrogation room at the station, Chance asks ‘who the hell are you’? I’m Alan Laurent, of course. Since you were married to Abby, you must be aware of the Abbotts’ mental challenges. Jack’s an addict and Ashley suffers from dissociative identity disorder. They’re manipulating Traci. Sounds like you’re breaking confidentially, Chance comments. Martin’s only concern is that the Abbotts get the psychological help they need. Chance is waiting for fingerprints from France and the farm house. They won’t be a match, Martin has nothing to hide. We’ll see about that, Chance exits.
That’s so sweet, Phyllis appreciates the coffee she didn’t even ask for. It’s like I read my mind, Sharon jokes. Nick’s still getting used to his exes being nice to each other. ‘We went through hell together’ – he saw us as an experiment. Well, he messed with the wrong women.
The Abbott trio now seated, Traci can’t believe she didn’t see what was right in front of her. I had no idea who he really was. Ashley points out that Martin fooled her more than once. He fooled all of us, Jack agrees. It’s not your fault. Traci takes their hands – thank you. I’m the one who put all of us in danger by bringing him into our lives, our home.
