Once seated, Nikki asks Claire if there’s a problem between her and Summer. Claire gets the feeling Summer’s not happy about her relationship with Kyle. Are you worried she wants Kyle back? Claire’s not sure but feels there’s more going on – do you think grandpa’s encouraging Summer to get back with Kyle?
You were quiet on the ride over (to CL’s) Kyle asks Summer if him seeing Claire is going to be a problem.
Lily will check her schedule and get back to Damian. He jokes about calendars being on phones these days but will hope she calls him with a ‘yes’. My number’s on your Roladex. After he leaves, Devon’s concerned by how easily Damian’s won Lily over.
Summer doesn’t have an issue with Kyle seeing Claire – she cares about him and doesn’t want to see him get hurt. My parents have protecting me covered, Kyle quips. Summer points out that her grandpa is opposed to the relationship. Kyle doesn’t give a damn about Victor’s approval.
Though surprised by Claire’s suspicions, Nikki admits to an understatement of the year – Victor does go ‘a bit overboard’ sometimes. No Claire doesn’t know that her grandpa’s meddling but Summer seems so ’emboldened’ lately – and she wonders why.
Amy’s done some research on Nate’s doctor friend – she’s very impressive. Nate agrees. Amy’s trying not to get her hopes up, and Nate doesn’t want to give her false hope. When there’s a knock at the door, he assumes it’s Dr Kelly. But no, it’s Damian.
Gently reminded that Summer had issues with her before she started dating Kyle, Claire feels she’s now being ‘aggressive’ and using her history with Kyle (and Harrison) to drive a wedge between them. You don’t honestly believe that, Nikki chides. Claire admits she might be feeling insecure and paranoid – perhaps some of what Jordan exposed her to is still ingrained in her.
Summer warns that those who stand up to her grandpa usually fail spectacularly. Victor doesn’t have the power to fire me as Claire’s boyfriend and Kyle’s sure Claire can stand up to him too. Summer knows Kyle would move heaven and earth to protect Harrison – but aren’t you worried? Is it really worth it? Yes, it’s more than worth it. Are you falling in love with Claire? Summer asks.
Lily kinda sees Damian’s point in thinking they’re untrustworthy. We aren’t hiding anything – our cards are on the table, Devon also thinks it ‘quite telling’ that Damian started playing the victim when confronted on his lies. There’s a lot more secrets than we’ve uncovered, he’s sure. Nate’s blind to the bigger picture. We shouldn’t trust everything Damian tells us. Lily got a feel for him and doesn’t think he’s dangerous. Devon didn’t imply he was – but why are you defending him and making excuses – and going for dinner with him – is there more going on?
Damian’s there to see his Mom, who he asks her out for lunch. Hugging him, Amy declines because the specialist is coming to see her. Damian thanks Nate – lunch can wait, this is far more important.
Lily just met the guy and doesn’t fully trust Damian either. That said, she sees no harm in getting to know Nate’s brother better; this is a good way to get answers without scaring him off. Despite Nate asking you not to get involved? Devon would hate for Lily to get close to Damian only to have their worst suspicions confirmed.
Nate introduces Carol/Dr Kelly to Amy and Damian, who he invites to lunch while the doctor and patient talk.
Nikki tells Claire not to feel insecure – you and Kyle have a good relationship. She loves Summer as much as she loves Claire but can’t deny she has some of her Mom’s ‘drive’ and can be ‘a bull in a china shop’. Summer will always be in Kyle’s life but you can all be a happy blended family one day. Nikki will do everything in her power so that no one takes that away from Claire, not Victor or Summer. You will always have my support.
Kyle hasn’t reached the ‘love’ stage with Claire but it’s getting there. He hopes Summer’s being sincere. Summer is – she has enough on her plate already and has no time to think about Kyle and Claire’s relationship. Happy to hear it, Kyle will wait for her in the car. Summer’s left to make a face that reads ‘everything I just said was a lie’.
