Sticking to her lie, Claire asks Kyle to just hold her.
It’ll be nice not just having Connor on alternate weekends – Adam and Chelsea agree to pick him up together from school. Apparently we have an open door policy, Adam quips when Nick just walks on in. Hey, I knocked, he says. After Chelsea makes it VERY clear that she’ll have her own space and Adam excuses himself to take a call, Nick worries that what Adam wants might not be what’s best for Chelsea – and what Adam wants is now within reach.
No, Sharon doesn’t remember seeing Ian at Daniel’s apartment but it must have been his hand she felt on her shoulder. She wishes she didn’t go there that night. Repeating that he needs a bit more time, Daniel hurries out.
Claire thanks Kyle for not running away – her family can be a lot. He respects the love the Newmans have for one another, and he respects Claire – did you leave anything out? There is but she must honour her Mom and grandmother’s wishes. Kyle looks concerned; Claire’s not herself.
If Adam crosses the line, let me know – Nick tells Chelsea. She appreciates that. When Adam comes back to ask what he missed, Nick claims he was just telling her which bathroom ensuite has the best water pressure. The brothers then head off to the hospital together.
Mike returns to snap Sharon out of it – you’re free and clear. I am? Do I deserve that? she wonders. You were a victim – if Ian were around, he’d be charged with his crimes against you, Mike points out. Sharon appreciates him taking her case. It was a pleasure, he’s sure Phyllis will forgive him eventually. Sharon will get past this – but what about Daniel?
Sitting on the park bench at the overlook, Daniel talks aloud to sort out his feelings. Heather – you’re gone for no good reason.
On the drive over to Memorial, Adam asks Nick if he ever thought about their Dad not making it. No, but now Nick’s curious – why are you wondering what would have happened if Dad died?
Tearing up, Sharon worries how Daniel will move on now that there will be no trial; he won’t be able to give an impact statement – there’s no closure for him. Going through a senseless loss can come back and break your heart at any time – Sharon doesn’t wish that pain on anyone.
Daniel continues to mope aloud in the park – he was the emotional artist, Heather was the stable lawyer – it didn’t always work out for us, but when it did, it was magic. In tears, he doesn’t know if he can do it without her. It feels like this nightmare will never end.
Dad’s come back from way worse than this, Nick shrugs it off. We could be making funeral arrangements right now, Adam states the obvious – Dad won’t be around forever; he’s the one who keeps us all together. It’s not about business, it’s about family. You’re worried we’ll cut you out? Nick realizes – he and Vikki reject or accept Adam based on his actions, not because of what Dad says.
Next Week; Billy would love both Daniel and Phyllis to join him. When something sounds too good to be true, it usually is, Daniel’s suspicious. What corner of the universe are we going to conquer first? Phyllis is all in …. Damien’s at Nate’s condo for details about this job offer. There’s something you need to know first, Nate admits … Jack’s at the ranch – I just heard what happened. Thank God you’re OK, he tells Nikki. What the hell are you doing here? Victor grumbles.
