Hands on his hips, Chance looks forward to an explanation for all this. The EMT tells the family that Victor will be OK – the bullet went straight through but he’ll need surgery. Refusing a gurney, Victor insists on walking to the ambulance – pausing to thank Mike. Nikki will meet him at Memorial – but first she hisses ‘good riddance’ to a dead Ian.

At the ranch, Sharon stops Ian’s gurney from being wheeled out so that she can tell the dead man that Heather didn’t have to die. Mariah’s the next to deliver a teary reverse-eulogy to the cult-leader who raised her (complete with flashbacks) It’s finally over. Inviting Claire to join them, Sharon leaves with the three young ladies.

In the back of the ambulance, Nikki scolds the nearly unconscious Victor for attacking an armed man – what the hell were you thinking?

At Sharon’s, Claire and Sharon fill Tessa in on everything she’s missed. She feels terrible for encouraging Ian and wanting Mariah to forgive him. The irony of those two psychopaths finding one another. You’ll both be stronger for it, Sharon assures Claire and Mariah.

Back at the ranch, Chance is suspicious of the story Mike, Adam and Nick tell him. Imagine what this looks like – two enemies of the Nemwans winding up dead, here, on the property. You’ll find four sets of prints on the gun, Nick adds – the security guy, Ian’s, Victor’s and mine.

Tessa will never leave the house without charging the car and her phone. Jordan and Ian can never hurt us again, Sharon’s determined to focus on making amends to Daniel and Lucy.

Things always seem to work out just the way the Newmans want them to, Chance leaves with a smirk. Mike, Adam and Nick are left to say it’ll have to do.

Victor will never let anyone hurt Nikki – Ian and Jordan are dead – end of story. Or is it?

As the EMT’s drive along without a care in the world, in the back of an ambulance Ian awakens with a gasp.
