Kyle whines some more about his Mommy-issues. She abandoned him. Yes, he talked to her – she seemed genuinely hurt. He’s afraid of getting hurt by her again. Yes, he talked to his Dad – he wants him to forgive and forget – to be a happy family again.

Your feelings about the past aren’t a weakness, it’s your super-power, Traci wraps up her pep talk – hang your ornament, ‘Jacky’. I love you – good night. Jack’s left to relive impactful moments with Dina.

Nikki’s sure Claire will ‘find her way through’ and be made stronger by overcoming challenges (just as Vikki did) You always knows what to say to make me feel better, Vikki hugs her Mom.

Diane’s tried so hard but people keep throwing her past in her face. Continuing to channel Kay’s solid advice, Ester tells Diane to do the most selfless thing she can think of; a true sacrifice that will be impossible not to believe.

When Kyle comes home with Claire, Jack has something to talk to him about – but it can wait til morning. Claire suddenly remembers some work she needs to do before she goes to bed. After Jack congratulates her on her new job, Kyle walks her out. On the front step, the newly self-declared couple kiss goodnight. You’ll figure things out with your Mom, are Claire’s parting words.

Ester confides a secret – I’m a lot wiser than people give me credit for. Diane appreciates the advice and will come up with a sacrifice that will make Kyle forgive her.

Claire saw the lights on so decided to drop by the ranch. She tells her Mom and grandmother that she feels wonderful after her first day at work – she loves her life.

You’re always there when I need you – Kyle wants to be there for his Dad. Jack doesn’t judge his son for having doubts about his Mom. Kyle needs time but promises to try. When he suggests his Dad put his ornament on the tree, Jack asks Kyle to do the honour – for me and your grandmother. How’s that? Kyle hangs the ornament. It’s perfect, just perfect, Jack’s emotional.

My Thoughts: Today’s show could have been recapped in one paragraph – why are Ester and Claire the voice of reason? Why is Ester giving Mothering advice? Chloe’s the only person in town who doesn’t drop by CL’s for coffee (or to see her Mom) Why is Ester working two jobs? Does Chancellor not pay well? It’s weird that Jack’s a wreck over his Mommy issues every Christmas – while Ester puts the Merry in Merry Christmas; and while it’s nice that memories of her deceased employer are always on the tip of her tongue, hello lady – you also lost a granddaughter… Hey ‘Jack-y’ – there’s no need to dump all your woes on Traci – you have a renowned psychologist living in your house. Just wait til Alan comes down for a snack, lay on the couch and share. But, since’s GC’s only other therapist has lost her mind, Alan might not be accepting new patients atm…. Jack says that hanging onto the past is an Abbott flaw – but it seems the ladies are just fine; Traci’s perfectly well-adjusted and Ashley isn’t hanging onto the past; quite the opposite – she’s blocked a lot of it out…. Claire – get your boots off Society’s couch! And being familiar with ‘manipulative’ behaviour doesn’t make you an expert – just like me being familiar with doing dishes doesn’t make me a ceramic engineer…. Yeah Kyle – you may be ‘tired of having doubts’ – but we’re all tired of hearing about it.. Saying Jack’s been busy decorating is an understatement – did he bake the gingerbread for the houses or are they packed away and stored in the attic fully assembled – like the Christmas tree (which would explain why it looks the exact same as it did when Dina was alive. And good luck hanging on to the banister going up/down the stairs. I’m surprised Kyle was able to find an open spot to add his Dad’s Jack-y ornament.
