Vikki drops by the ranch to get her Mom’s perspective on Claire (who seemed nervous) Nikki couldn’t be more proud of her granddaughter – Claire’s a Newman through and through.

At Society, Claire admits that she was terrified today – my frog-catching skills (as Harrison’s nanny) don’t translate to the business world, she jokes. Kyle’s supportive – believe in yourself.

Ester greets Diane warmly – rough night? Take a seat – I’ve got this.

Having transformed the house into a Christmas wonderland, Jack’s moping over his ‘Jacky’ ornament in the dining room. He tells Traci that holding onto the past is a fatal Abbott flaw – he must break the cycle.

Jack chokes up as confesses that he’s struggling with thoughts of their Mother and the resentment he carried for years. Traci correctly guesses that this is about Kyle.

Amazed by Claire’s stability and maturity, Kyle has no doubt that she’ll succeed in working for Nikki. In awe, he wishes he had her wisdom and sophistication (!?)

Claire’s extraordinary – she identifies and solves problems and has the same drive as you, Nikki informs Vikki (who worries about Claire being overwhelmed by making choices for the first time in her life)

Ester serves a special latte guaranteed to put a smile back on Diane’s pretty face – and an ear if she wants to vent.

Back at the north pole, Jack worries that Kyle may never fully forgive his mother. Diane left him the way Dina left Jack. He doesn’t want his son to feel the pain and rage he did.

Now it’s Claire’s turn to compliment Kyle – she finds him ‘dashing’. He’s amazed by how she managed to let go of the past. Claire believes that looking forward is a choice anyone can make – even Kyle.

Ester gives Diane advice channelled through Katherine – the more Diane pushes, the more she’ll push her family away.

Jack continues to fret – he may not have been sensitive to Kyle’s feelings. Traci suggests he relate to Kyle by telling him what he went through with Dina. What would I do without you? Jack again chokes up.

Kyle doesn’t want to spoil their date by venting. That’s what couples do, Claire encourages. We’re a couple? Kyle would like to be Claire’s boyfriend. OK, we’re boyfriend and girlfriend. And now that that’s decided, he can whine some more.

Nikki understands why Vikki would be ‘overprotective’. I just got my first baby back and it feels like she’s taking her first steps in this terrifying world, Vikki also worries how her Dad’s taking Claire’s relationship with Kyle.
