Kyle and Summer have a nice chat at CL’s about Harrison and his grandmother’s condition. No, there’s no change in her condition, Summer’s afraid Phyllis won’t ‘pull through’ this time.

Standing vigil over his Mom’s bedside, Daniel tells Elena that he feels ‘so damn guilty’.

What do you mean you lost your mother – did Jill pass away?! Jack’s quickly corrected by Billy. She’s ill but not too ill to come and stab me in the back, he’s pissed that she handed Abbott Chancellor to Victor.

Daniel politely declines speaking to a therapist but confides in Elena that this all traces back to the night Cassie died. Basically, it’s all his fault.

Kyle and Summer are now seated to continue their friendly and mutually supportive conversation. He can relate to life giving you more than you can handle.

Back at the house, Billy no longer feels obligated to keep the secret of his mother’s health. Despite him rehiring Lily and firing Phyllis, she still sold the company to Victor. Jack assumes he wants payback. Damn right, he does.

Jack cautions Billy not to let his feelings get ahead of his judgement. With the media hitting him hard, Billy wants to prove that he can still ‘do the job’. Since Kyle ‘defected’ to Glacade and Diane’s out, his idea is to come back to Jabot as second in demand.

Elena gives Daniel solid advice – heal by forgiving yourself. She’s right Dad. When Lucy steps through the curtain, Daniel can’t get up to hug her fast enough.

Kyle knows how tough Summer can be. Yes, she’s trying to be like her Mom right now. She WILL will be OK. Knowing Phyllis, Kyle has no doubt. Arriving at CL’s, Chance watches an appreciative Summer take her ex’s hand across the table.

Summer quickly retracts her hand when Chance comes over. She’ll be by later to tuck Harrison into bed. Kyle has to get going too. Racing over to the counter, Summer asks for coffee to go. Her Mom? No change – she’s lucky to be alive. The more Summer thinks about it, the more she realises ‘it’s your fault’. Chance looks hurt.

Elena introduces herself to Lucy. Yes, she believes Phyllis can hear her granddaughter, and feel the love she just brought into the room. As Elena leaves, Daniel thanks her.

Daniel listens as Lucy tells Phyllis that she asked a cute boy to dance; he’s one of the sound boys sons. When Scotty showed her how to use the sound board, their hands touched.

Billy can hit the ground running at Jabot – it’s a win-win. He understands why Jack’s sceptical but has been put through the wringer, personally and professionally. The one thing Billy’s learned is that he can count on his big brother. Except this time it seems – Jack has to say no.

Billy wants to know why his brother won’t rehire him. You need me as much as I need you. All will become clear in a few days, Jack can’t talk about it right now. He’s left to blink back tears when Billy slams out.

If you’d arrested Sharon, she wouldn’t have run my Mom off the road, Summer lets Chance know that she’s pissed off and doesn’t want to hear that he was just doing his job. We’re gonna need to find a way to get past this, Chance decides. Summer’s not sure this IS a way.

Daniel and Lucy missed one another; both are still wearing their bracelets. Lucy’s so sorry she left her Dad to go through everything alone.

Billy’s drowning his sorrows at the club’s bar when Sally appears to lift his spirits. She’ll have a drink with him first – then decide whether they should run away and join the carnival.

Chance follows Summer onto the patio to defend himself – if he had to do it all over again, there’s nothing he’d do differently. Summer can’t accept that and doesn’t agree that they can move past this. She wants to forgive him for his mistake. Chance denies he made a mistake and (for a third time) wants to move past this. Summer doesn’t think they should see each other for a while.

Billy whines that Jack sees him as the rest of his family does. He tells Sally that it’s time he accept that.

In an incredibly fake outdoor setting, Jack updates Diane that Billy bought their act and left thinking his brother viewed him as a ‘screw up’. He continues to resist the idea of bringing Kyle back to Jabot.

Looking at photos on Lucy’s phone, Daniel would like to see what this ‘little hoodlum’ (Scotty) looks like. Summer joins them to notice the good energy Lucy brought with her. We’re all here now, Lucy pleads with Phyllis to wake up – please don’t leave me like my Mom did.

After more whining by Billy and more support from Sally, they agree that you can’t choose your family or who you fall in love with. You can, however, choose your friends ¬kiss¬

Diane and Jack continue to butt heads. He wants an apology from Kyle; we can’t have him marching around Jabot like an arrogant, pompous Victor.

Asking for time alone with Phyllis, Lucy’s in tears as she asks her to please wake up. She removes her bracelet and ties it around her grandmother’s wrist. Daniel’s telling Summer that he’ll never forgive Sharon for having him send Lucy away when she runs out. Dad! Dad! Oh look. Phyllis is awake.
