Sharon seems hurt that she might not be welcome at Heather’s funeral. Is this because of your Mother’s ridiculous accusations? It is – she’s convinced you killed Heather, Daniel doesn’t want a scene. Today is about Heather. All good here? Nick approaches. Yes, Sharon was just telling Daniel how much it means to be part of honouring Heather’s memory. After she wanders off, Nick offers to take Sharon home if Daniel’s uncomfortable.
Back at the club, Phyllis talks to the giant framed portrait of Heather. I’ll get justice for you, my granddaughter and my son, she promises.
At the grave-site, Heather’s casket is covered in white flowers. Chance hangs back as Summer gives Daniel a hug then pins the Texas Bluebell on his lapel. We’ll get through this, she promises as mourners start to trickle in. They’re worrying about what their Mom might pull today when Phyllis appears – I can’t believe that woman (Sharon) came. ‘Not today’, Daniel joins Summer to add his warning.
After the Minister speaks to the small crowd, Daniel, Phyllis, then Summer place single flowers on top of Heather’s casket. The Baldwins are next – followed by Nick, Faith and last but not least, Sharon (handed a flower by Phyllis) Next thing you know, Daniel’s alone to express his grief and promise Heather that he’ll find whoever did this and make them pay.
Now at the club, Mike and Lauren talk to Chris – Paul would have given anything to be here. Arriving with Summer, Chance grumbles that all eyes are on him; he wants to leave all police business at the door.
As Nick and Sharon arrive to admire Heather’s portrait, Phyllis wastes no time accosting Sharon (who scurries off to pour herself some water) Nick defends Sharon – then hugs Daniel. The Baldwins express their condolences. When Nick reports back to Sharon, Faith wants to know what’s going on and is outraged to hear what Phyllis is accusing her Mother of. Phyllis suddenly commands everyone’s attention – she has something to say that they’ll all want to hear.
Phyllis speaks about justice and invites anyone who’d like to – to step up and share a story about Heather. I’ll start, she speaks about Heather’s love for her family etc. Also a stepmother, Summer respected and admired Heather. Mike was honoured to work with her – she was a warrior for justice. No parent should have to bury a child.
At his mother’s urging, Daniel comes forward – Heather was the love of my life – she never lost faith in me. Unable to take it any more, Sharon runs out in tears and doubles over at the bottom of the staircase. Phyllis quickly appears – it’s hard to watch – burns a hole in your stomach. YOU did that! YOU caused that! I didn’t kill Heather, Sharon insists. Please admit it! Phyllis begs. Please save my son! Sharon hurries through the revolving door. Phyllis follows.
