In the park, Jack and Harrison look at his old baseball card collection. Who’s your favourite player grandpa? Mickey Mantle, Phyllis arrives to answer. Jack frowns as Harrison jumps up to hug her.
Claire drops by her Mom’s office to invite her out to lunch. Nikki appears seconds later – mind if I tag along? She has something to discus with Claire.
At Abbott Chancellor, Billy does indeed think announcing and explaining the name change will be easy. Would you prefer we add ‘Lily’ to the name? he asks his annoyed partner.
At Society, Claire updates her Mom and grandmother that the custody between Kyle and Summer has gotten ugly. She’s trying to stay neutral but it’s not easy. Do you regret taking the job? Nikki asks.
Of course it’s just coincidence that Phyllis ran into her two favourite guys at the park. When Harrison chirps that Claire’s with her Mom, Phyllis is glad to hear she’s spending time with her ‘actual’ family. Your Mommy told me all about the fun plans she’s making for the two of you – the zoo, the carnival. Jack rolls his eyes as Phyllis lays it on thick about how much Harrison’s Mommy loves him. Jack sends the boy off to check out caterpillars, Jack scolds Phyllis – you should be ashamed of yourself.
Having spoken to Jill, Billy relays that she’s not onboard with going public about hear health, or him stepping back from the company. He’s changed his mind too – we should run the company together as planned, Victor be damned. All Lily needs to do is sign off on the press release he drafted.
Call Jill – she’ll tell you the same thing – don’t be afraid of Victor. Billy won’t be kicked to the curb – we’re not a start-up – we’re a legacy. You knew what you were getting into. Lily’s hesitation makes him question her agenda.
Phyllis thinks Harrison is a do-over for her and Jack (we both missed so much time with our sons) Kyle’s off the rails, Phyllis lists examples. Jack doesn’t want to fight but if all she wants to do is blame Kyle, this conversation’s over. You have too much free time on your hands – stop butting in where you’re not wanted, he walks away.
Nikki praises Claire as the best assistant she ever had. Moving on to a bigger job, she’d love to have her granddaughter at her side – this time for all the right reasons.
Billy hands his phone to Lily – this is the press release announcing that we’re running Abbott Chancellor together. If you’re not hiding anything and being honest, sign off on it.
Your grandfather would be thrilled if you joined the family company, Nikki makes her pitch. You could move up the ladder quickly – the sky’s the limit. This is news to Vikki but she’s not surprised. Nikki would love to work with Claire again.
Lily’s not signing off on this – we can’t deliver on these things for another five years. They argue until Lily walks out after snapping that she won’t risk the company’s future because Billy has something to prove.
