Mariah’s puzzled. Tessa’s nowhere to be seen but she’s left a basket on a park bench. You remembered, she hugs her stuffed squid.

Victor explains that he’s been finalizing the acquisition of Chancellor for months. His darling Nikki has earned her position; you all have. If you somehow manage to pull this off, Newman will be cemented as an empire, Nick chimes in. Billy Boy has disgraced Katherine’s memory – Victor vows to make things right.

At Society for takeout, Lily and Billy will be eating back at the office. Nearby, at the bar, Abby tells Devon that she gave Tessa the night off. She planned a ‘strange surprise’ for Mariah. Their flirting ends when Devon spots his sister and Billy.

Tessa joins Mariah for an anniversary lunch that’s been postponed several times due to work and ‘life’. They fondly flash back to the movie night Kyle set up for them on the GCAC rooftop. The squid is a nod to the movie they watched; Beneath The Sea.

Billy won’t just roll over, this will have to be a hostile takeover, Nick comments. Victor reminds everyone that he talked Jill out of going public and has now bought Maime’s shares. Adam belongs at Newman Media – Nick and Vikki will run NE with him – Nikki will run Chancellor. And, Billy Boy can choke on his hubris, Victor concludes.

We broke up the companies but can’t avoid one another, Devon pouts. Abby’s invitation to join them is declined – Lily and Billy are going back to work. Devon asks to speak to his sister in private.

Marian and Tessa briefly discuss Sharon. It’s nice that she and Nick are friends but too bad she didn’t get her happy ending.

Abby and Billy butt heads over Lily choosing to stay at Chancellor instead of working with Devon.

Outside, Lily claims she’s still going along with their plan but pressed for an answer, she admits that she’s decided to stay with Billy at Chancellor.

Adam thinks it karmic justice – Billy won’t even see it coming. Have you thought about Johnny and Katie? Vikki scowls. This is business, Billy can go crawling back to Jabot and take Kyle’s spot, Victor states. Yes, Adam’s happy about it – now everyone will have a seat in this game of musical chairs. Nick’s not sure Jill will let Victor have her company. Nikki wants to know the real reason Victor’s doing this.
