Billy suggests promoting Chance to COO – how does that sound? Like I’ll need a new suit, Chance quips. No, he won’t say anything about Jill’s health, he reassures when Nate arrives with Devon (who cautions Billy that the board vote might not be a lock)
When Dr Hammond drops by their hotel suite to tell Chelsea and Adam that there’s been a problem with Connor.
At their table, Nate’s observed that Billy’s pushing Devon’s buttons – but why is Devon pushing Lily’s buttons. Accusing her of wanting to stay at Chancellor might drive her to do just that – she’s right to suspect you’re trying to push her away.
Chance drops by Lily’s office to let her know that Billy’s filled him in. He’s all in and looks forward to working with her. He’s impressed that she stays above the infighting. Winter’s loss is a huge gain for Chancellor.
Billy sits in the park to chat with Jill on video. He and Lily have pitched to Devon and Nate – they’re ready to go to the board as soon as Abby lands in Paris. That’s why Jill called – she’s having second thoughts.
Jill did a deeper dive on the post merger numbers – they’re good. This is the only way to add Abbott to the company name and yes, Lily will stay on at CW (after her interaction with Devon today)
Chance’s seen a lot of jockeying for position here and hopes things will settle down after the board vote. Lily appreciates his honesty and knows he cares about the company. Now alone, she looks guilty after flashing back to Neil’s vow to set the standard for how a family business is run.
Dr Hammond tells Chelsea and Adam that Connor shared his great day during his group therapy session. His OCD was triggered and punished him. He started hitting himself – then tried to cut himself with a pen. He’s been moved to inpatient status for his own protection. The OCD is weakening and hanging on for dear life – trying to gain control. Dr Hammond then leaves Adam and Chelsea to absorb the news.
A tightly wound Chelsea lashes out at Adam – our precious little boy tried to stab himself. Maybe we’ve been so self absorbed that we didn’t notice Connor was in crisis. We were about to order champagne for the flight home. We were so happy a couple of hours ago. Adam talks her down – he’ll be OK, so will we.
You gave me your voting power so you do trust me, right? Yes, Jill sighs. Let me run with this, Billy’s sure he’s doing the right thing.
Devon wants to run his family company with his family. You and Lily don’t have to do everything together, Nate thinks Devon needs to decide what he really wants before this board vote.
Lily’s surprised to get a video call from Jill. Are you really OK with this ‘uncoupling’? she asks. Sounds to Lily like she’s having second thoughts. Neither are answering the question. Not sure this is the right move, Jill will be using her own vote. If we don’t get this right, we could lose the company we worked so hard to build.
