Vikki admits that she misses work but this would be a ‘crazy’ time (with Johnny and Katie coming home soon) Nikki would really like her to take over as Newman Media’s CEO .
Nothing’s wrong, Cole was just enjoying the sunshine. Reintroducing himself to Harrison, he asks Kyle if he’d like to get a beer sometime.
Acknowledging past issues between Summer and Chloe, Sally touts her BFF’s talent and how well they work together. Because they don’t have a lot of time to finish this collection, she asks Summer to give Chloe another chance.
Also worried that Adam might not want to give Nikki her job back, Vikki grumbles about her Dad repeatedly throwing them into chaos. He’s the chess-master, we’re his pawns. It’s why she’s not sure she wants to come back to work.
Back at the ranch, Nick and Victor debate Adam’s return to Newman Media. You wanted us to work together, Nick doesn’t get it. Trust me on this, I know what I’m doing, Victor again asks him to convince Vikki.
‘This was surprisingly easy’, Summer leaves after promising to consider rehiring Chloe. We might actually make this work, she leaves Sally to thank God and do her happy dance.
Declining ice cream, Cole needs to go get ready for his dinner-date. Claire’s left to admit to Kyle that she’s really excited – what kid doesn’t want their parents back together? (something Kyle can relate to) She assumes her Dad invited him out for a beer to judge what kind of boss he is. Claire has no complaints and Kyle intends to keep it that way.
Nikki’s not sure what Victor has in mind but suspects she’s being punished for her drinking, Jordan and turning to Jack. Dad adores you, Vikki disagrees – and when Nick drops by, she wastes no time asking him what Dad’s up to.
When Kyle, Claire and Harrison come back to the house, Summer’s there to take her son out for ice cream. Her eyes widen when Harrison gives Claire a thank you hug for ‘the best day ever’ but she maintains the smile and supposes she’ll take ice cream duty another day. Thanking them both for the job, Claire leaves Kyle to state the obvious – Summer’s still struggling with this.
Nick has no idea what Dad’s up to – all he said is ‘I know what I’m doing’. No, he doesn’t think his Mom’s being punished; Dad truly believes he’s doing this for your benefit and he really wants Vikki back. It doesn’t make sense to him – Adam and I are working well together. How is this for MY benefit? Nikki’s annoyed.
At Society, Adam complains about being dangled a carrot – then whacked with the stick. You built Newman Media, and Victor wants Nikki to recover. You always have a chip on your shoulder, he scowls. The only way Adam will consider his Dad’s request is if he’s let in on the plan.
Summer doesn’t have a problem with Claire. It took her a minute to calm down – how can she object to someone who makes her son so happy? What Mom wouldn’t feel a twinge? It hurts a little is all. We’re still Mommy and Daddy, always will be, Kyle reassures.
Nikki still hopes Vikki will agree to replace her. It’s just for a short time. We can talk your father out of putting Adam in charge, she’s sure.
Back at Society, Victor doesn’t take kindly to threats. This needs to remain between us. You’re an ally, not a pawn. What does that mean exactly? Adam asks. Victor needs Newman Media to destroy an enemy. I need someone running it who’s as ruthless as I am, he adds.
