Now alone in the office, Devon tells Nate that Aunt Maime might be onto something. Maybe Billy is after power and we should enlist Chance.

Deciding to be the ‘adult in the room’, Chance won’t side with Devon or Billy; he’ll align himself with Nate. He and Nina stand to greet Amanda and Maime (who heaps praise on the brilliant and handsome Chance) When the ladies sit at the bar for a drink, Chance tells Nina ‘that can’t be good’.

Victor’s returns to say that it’s time for Claire to reach out to Jordan. ‘You bet’ he’ll never let that woman torment their family again.

Agreeing to meet with Nikki and Victor, Jordan needs some air. Vowing not to let her out of his sight, Seth escorts her out. He’s in the process of calling Nikki when Jordan shoves him into the path of oncoming traffic.

Someone call 911! a distressed Jordan returns to the bar screeching that Seth killed himself. He said ‘tell Nikki Newman I’m sorry’ then walked right in front of a car!

As the Newmans wait with baited breath, Claire gets ‘Isabelle’s voicemail. Hang up, Victor instructs – we can’t let her know we’re onto her. Claire’s disappointed – she can’t focus on the future until Jordan’s dealt with.

Nate points out what he sees as a pattern with Devon. He fought for power with Lily, then me, now Billy – you’re the one constant. Devon barely has time to defend protecting Neil’s legacy when Nate adds that the real threat is within their own family – Aunt Maime.

Over drinks, Maime finally gets around to telling Amanda the message she wants her to relay to Jill – she wants to undo the merger. Amanda knows Jill won’t go for it – it’d be bad PR for the company. OK, Maime then suggests that outwardly CW maintains a united front but Chancellor and Winters will work independently. What do you get out of this? Amanda wonders.

‘Cue the fireworks’, Nina sighs – it’s Jill vs. Maime. True, Chance does hate the ‘posturing and politics’ but he’ll be OK because he’s got good instincts and knows right from wrong.

A corporate battle is better than a shoot out, Nina just wants her son to be safe AND happy – but, knowing how Jill fights – it won’t be easy.

Maime only wants to protect her family – Jill bringing Billy on destabilized everything. Amanda sees the logic and respects Maime’s motive – but, Jill won’t go for it.

Maime’s not the problem, Devon’s sure the problem it’s Billy. And now, he has to question where Nate’s loyalties lie. Let’s wait and see what Maime’s proposition is. It doesn’t bother you that she didn’t tell us first? Nate gets Devon thinking.

Everyone suddenly tired, Cole leaves Vikki to take Claire up to her room. That leaves Nikki and Victor to wonder why Seth hasn’t updated them. Victor goes back to Plan B – a staged photo at Vikki’s house. Jordan won’t be able to stay away – we’ll have her right where we want her.

In the alley, Jordan ditches her disguise and outer layers of clothing in a dumpster. As sirens and helicopters can be heard, she dons a new wig, glasses and a beret. Checking her phone, she’s delighted to see a missed call.

After Maime leaves, Amanda joins Nina and Chance. The consensus is that people like Maime and Jill are so much alike they become best friends or mortal enemies. They respect one another and enjoy sparring, all three chuckle.

When Maime returns to CW with news, Devon wonders why she talked to Amanda before them. Shrugging it off, Maime basically says it’s a moot point since Amanda’s sure that Jill will reject her proposition (which is fine because a ‘less peaceful’ way suits her just fine)

Victor’s off making Nikki a cup of tea when she gets a call from an officer informing her that there was a hit and run. A witness said that Seth walked in front of a car on purpose. Oh my God! Nikki yelps.

My Thoughts: Between all the talk of grooming Chance and Nina gushing over him like he’s never worn a suit before, the former Chief of Police (for 5 minutes) is being treated like a boy heading off to his prom … For a minute I wondered what Maime and Amanda ordered – is that a fruit platter for two? No, they’re talking/breathing all over the bartender’s garnishes (maraschino cherries and lemon wedges to remind us dense viewers that the ladies are at a bar) …. And excuse me but what exactly does Maime mean by ‘everyone getting back to what they do well’? Is she going to go make cinnamon rolls with Mrs Martinez? Maime took Jill’s bribe (to get her out of GC) and had a financial adviser invest it. And why does Maime hate on Billy so much? She watched him grow up (OK, so he left for boarding school as a stocky blond kid and returned a tall, thin man with black hair; as often happens when one goes away to boarding school) … Back to Maime – how does Nina see two brilliant, successful women? One’s a lawyer – the other is a retired maid (admirable work but not the same) And how can Maime keep a straight face when saying that Jill bringing Billy onboard is what destabilized CW? It wasn’t exactly stable when she unveiled herself as the mystery investor? … Good job Seth. You said you weren’t taking your eyes off Jordan then immediately did just that. Given the short distance from the front door of The Empty Glass and the road, it’s surprising more drunks aren’t run over…. Why isn’t Ester outside Devon’s office screening visitors? … Claire needs her Mom to take her up to her room? Will she read tuck her in and read her a bedtime story too? Who’s taking care of Katie and Johnny? Will their first sight of their half sister be the staged photo in the newspaper? The teaser for the story of Claire’s miraculous return was published days ago.
