Heather’s glad Lucy wants to hang out with her old, boring Mom. She’s not being taken advantage of. Lucy comes out to say they don’t have cheese (key ingredient in a grilled cheese) Peanut butter and bananas it is! Isn’t Mom the best? Lucy gushes to her Dad before following Heather to the kitchen.
Lauren approves of Nikki’s sponsor, Seth. He makes it easy to reach out, Nikki will always be grateful for that. On cue, Seth arrives on the patio.
What’s the big urgency? Danny sits with Phyllis. She wants him to play the song she helped inspire. When Danny starts to play, Phyllis records him.
Chance admits that he and Sharon had broken up the last time he saw Summer but wasn’t ready to ‘bare his soul’. They laugh and joke.
Phyllis applauds Danny – that was amazing. He rejoins her – do you want to talk about Tucker? Please tell me you aren’t seeing him. Phyllis doesn’t see a future with him – he doesn’t sweep me off my feet, like you do. It’s hot, she pulls her coat open to reveal her bra and one shoulder. Do you remember the passion we had? Yes, but it wasn’t all good. Yeah, it was and we can have it again. Danny’s phone pings. Don’t get that, Phyllis implores. Too late. Are you kidding me!? Danny erupts. Phyllis has posted the clip online and captioned it ‘TFW, when your ex plays you a love song’. Upstairs, at the GCAC, Chris huffs. What the hell is this!? Phyllis feigns innocence. Danny won’t be played – it’s obvious that you want everyone to think we’re seeing each other! You had me convinced – I know better now. You haven’t changed at all!
Phyllis isn’t the one playing games – that’s your precious Chris – she told me you’re going on a romantic trip. Yes, she told me ‘unprovoked’ and ‘out of the blue’. Did you mention that you kissed me? Danny asks. You were kissing me too – but no, Phyllis didn’t. No, Danny didn’t – why would he upset Chris and fuel this rivalry? Phyllis thinks Danny liked the kiss.
Your ears must have been burning, the ladies greet Seth. After a yawn, he agrees that he might be coming down with something. Noting that he wasn’t at this morning’s meeting, Nikki’s left to ask Lauren if Seth seemed OK.
Outside Society, Chance and Summer joke about him not being late for his first day. This was nice, they agree to do it again soon.
After hot chocolate, Lucy bids her parents good night and goes to bed. Heather admits that she’s falling back in love with Daniel – all over again.
Phyllis sees it written all over Danny’s face. You’re happier around me but so tense around Chris. You have no idea what you’re talking about, Danny stomps off to the bar to order a drink. Phyllis follows – you’re not attracted to Chris. It’s an act. Back off, Danny hisses weakly. Phyllis knows what she knows. Of course, they’re kissing passionately when Chris comes downstairs to get an eyeful.
My Thoughts: It’s one thing to indulge your kid – quite another to overindulge. Simply put – Lucy’s being spoiled rotten and should be able to make her own grilled cheese, And if Heather has some magical trick that only she can perform, she needs to pass it down. That said, while I don’t particularly like Heather, I do love the way the actresses interact. Really Daniel – what an idiotic question – what could you possibly replace the grilled cheese with? OK – I’ve used Cheese Wiz. It’s not great …… Oh Danny – you idiot. If you want to know what music Lucy’s playing, Shazzam it. And you deserve Phyllis – since her only interest is getting the better of Christine, you’re going to end up with neither of them… It sure took Chris a long time to get down that one flight of stairs…. I’m not sure what the deal with Seth is but the anvils being dropped on our heads are hard to miss. And are we going to pretend we just came out of a once in a century (hopefully) pandemic? If you might be ‘coming down with something’ maybe don’t go breathing/yawning on people in public until you’ve taken a test and ruled out Covid. It’s still a thing people!
