Danny’s delighted when Chris drops by. Both had an amazing New Years Eve. She can’t stay for pancakes but invites him to run away to the lake for the weekend.
Vikki knows Claire must be scared and confused. You’re not alone – family and friends are there for you when you’re ready. Your father and I want to know you. We’re here for you. You’re safe with us – you have my word (Claire remains fast asleep)
Chris will go plan everything – wait here – I’ll call you, she kisses Danny on her way out. As she leaves, Heather arrives. Daniel’s surprise makes it clear to all that she wasn’t expected.
Wanting something doesn’t mean you’re going to get it, Summer points out. Phyllis gets all emotional – but maybe she isn’t talking about Danny, she’s talking about Chance (which does NOT go over well) Phyllis asks what happened to Summer – you used to be so brave. The old Summer wouldn’t let Chance walk away without telling him how she felt. Happy New Year, Phyllis really hopes it’s a good one for Summer.
These pancakes ‘rock on’, Danny jokes with Daniel. Lucy and Heather play along. The pancakes aren’t as good as Heather remembers – they’re better, she goes overboard.
Sharon comes in from the patio – I guess I could smile and pretend I didn’t overhear you and your Mother. Summer’s so sorry and mortified. She’d never compromise Sharon and Chance’s relationship but does have to ask – are you in love with him?
While the ladies are in the kitchen, Danny has advice for his son – let everyone know where they stand. He and Chris had a good night, despite Phyllis’ best effort.
Danny’s seen his son fall in and out of love – you’re a romantic. Whoa – just because you and Chris are giving it another go, doesn’t mean he is with Heather. Does SHE know that? Danny wonders. While Lucy goes to get ready, Heather and Daniel’s interaction only proves Danny’s point.
Vikki continues to talk. She’s so grateful to have Claire in her life (even if she’s not getting through to her) She’s about to leave when Claire wakes up and looks at her. Happy New Year, Vikki blinks back tears.
Woman to woman, Summer would like to know where things stand between Sharon and Chance. We enjoy each other but have no expectations. Sharon just wants to have fun while figuring out who she is and what she wants. Her future’s wide open. Morning ladies, Chance arrival sends Sharon running off while purposefully not looking at him. Is everything alright? he asks (as Sharon glares at Summer from behind the counter)
My Thoughts: If anyone needs a talking to about boundaries, it’s Lucy. She shouldn’t be playing matchmaker for her parents and she shouldn’t be taking photos without permission. Daniel might regret not asking her to delete it…. Of course Vikki doesn’t know if Claire’s awake and/or can hear her. You’re talking to her back. Maybe you should have pulled up a chair up on the OTHER side of the bed … At least someone at Memorial finally asked whether a visitor is related to the patient they’re seeking access to….. It doesn’t seem like Sharon gives a rats ass about Chance. Poor guy deserves better (though I’m not sure that’s Summer)
