You fooled everyone, including me, Sally admits. Adam pretended to have changed so he could punish them all – from the inside. Don’t feel sorry for me. I got the revenge I wanted – pushing my Dad into the deep end. I feel sick about it.
Cuddling in bed, Vikki wonders what it would be like to have been born into a normal family. The Newmans are like a royal family – all the kids waiting for the king to die. She doesn’t want her Dad to die and she’s not even sure she wants the crown.
Nick refuses to believe that Vikki would betray our father. Sharon points out that he told you the truth, not Vikki. It’s Nate Dad doesn’t trust, Nick knows that Vikki’s genuinely worried about Victor and has no idea how this is going to play out.
‘Trust me’, Victor has one more part of the plan to put in motion. And what is that? Nikki sighs. You’ll see.
No, Victor doesn’t resent Nikki for telling Nick the truth. I have to do this my own way – the stakes are high. This will NOT end well, Nikki warns – you can trust me on THAT, she leaves the room in a huff.
Back at CL’s, Sharon and Nick discuss Vikki’s relationship with Victor – which could be destroyed forever if she finds out. That’d be on Dad, Nick has no choice but to tell his sister.
Sally wants to believe Adam – but can’t help wondering if this is a ploy for sympathy. Adam knows he’s earned her distrust but she’s the only person he can count on. He swears to God – this time it’s real. OK, Sally believes Adam – she sees the fear, compassion and guilt in his eyes.
Sally sees another option – get your siblings to present a united front. Convince them that you need to work as a team for your father’s benefit. Tell Nick and Vikki what you told me, she encourages Adam.
Nick thanks Sharon for hearing him out. You’ve done the same for me, Sharon’s glad they can be friends – after all these years. So, will you call Vikki?
Vikki’s dressed and out of bed when Nick calls. Why is he calling so late? We need to talk about Dad – face to face. They agree to meet at Society. Yes, Vikki will keep Nate posted. With a quick kiss, she hurries out.
At the revolving door, Adam thanks Sally for the good advice. He clings to her as they hug and watches longingly as Sally goes up the stairs. As he heads to the revolving door, she pauses to look equally wanting.
What is it? Vikki asks before even sitting down (at Society) Dad’s as sane and healthy as ever, Nick tells her that Dad’s been faking his mental decline to test their loyalty. That can’t be! Vikki’s stunned. He told me, Nick insists – he’s been playing us.
Victor summons Nate to the ranch – don’t tell anyone you’re going. They think I don’t know what’s going on but I do. Who’s they? Nate asks. Victor can’t talk about it on the phone. You’re the only one I can trust. I’ll be right over, Nate agrees.
