Nate’s ambitious and ruthless, Vikki reminds Billy that he went behind his family’s back and would probably sell out Audra if it were to his advantage. But when Billy wonders if he’d sell out Vikki, she denies it – he wants to run an empire side by side with me. Sounds ‘dangerous’ to Billy – and you’ve had enough of that to last a lifetime.
Victor hands Nate a binder of projections for Adustus – he’d like his opinion. As Newmans’ COO, he should know all divisions of the magnificent company. Honoured, Nate will report back with his honest opinion.
Back at CL’s, Sharon thinks Nick’s making things as personal as he believes Adam is. He can’t be trusted, Nick says – not in business, not with Sally – he won’t let her go. He’s not the only one, Sharon believes Nick can’t let go either (of his hatred for Adam)
Sally’s done her fair share of getting ‘worked up’ at 2am. Just last night she was up wondering what Adam wanted. She expected it to be about their relationship, not a job. She won’t answer whether she was disappointed – stop fighting with Nick and do your job.
In the office, Nate reports his ‘preemptive’ meeting with Victor. Both are surprised that it went well. When Nate lists the reasons why the kids should go back to boarding school, Vikki frowns – she wasn’t aware he was really listening when she went on about the kids. Of course, Nate listens – anything that’s important to you is important to me.
Nate IS genuinely interested in the kids – and he’s trying to smooth things over with Vikki. He regrets betraying her trust and doesn’t want to lose her. She’s becoming more important to him every day.
Making the observation that Sally’s outgrown her self-destructive habits, Adam wonders if he ever will. She doesn’t think they can go back to working with each other. It wouldn’t be fair to you. Adam agrees – he’d end up heartbroken and resent Sally.
Sharon’s sure that Sally won’t let Adam get under her skin; don’t let him get under yours, she advises Nick. The only thing you can control in this equation is you, Sharon doesn’t want to regret working with the brothers.
Nick hates the name Adustus – let’s call ourselves SNA Media (Sharon, Nick, Adam) Sharon loves it. Maybe Adam will hate it so much he quits, Nick quips.
Sally really should get to the ranch to give Victor the good news. We’ve gotten through most of our grief and I don’t hate you anymore, her words are appreciated by Adam.
A lie of omission is still a lie, Vikki wonders if Nate would ever have come clean if she hadn’t pushed him. Probably not, he wanted to be her hero; to be worthy of Vikki. I’m falling in love with you.
Thanking Victor for seeing her, Sally announces that she’s accepting his job offer – then is taken aback that he’s ‘sorry to hear that’.
Sally’s confused. Have a seat, Victor informs that there’s no design division at NE, not now, not ever. Are you punishing me for getting involved with your sons? she wonders. Thanks for coming by, Victor dismisses her with a ‘good luck’.
You wanted to see me? Adam’s at CL’s. Wanted is a strong word, Nick gets a light slap on the shoulder from Sharon. They’ve made some decisions; first, we’ve put an offer in on office space. Second – we’re changing Adustus to SNA Media. The brothers agree that the name Adustus was stupid. Adam doesn’t want to ruin what they’re building – it’s all I have left.
Nate repeats himself. He’s falling in love with Vikki – but isn’t saying so to force her hand. Good, because Vikki has no idea how she’s feeling right now. He will do anything to regain her trust and respect. I can’t do this right now, Vikki asks Nate to cover a meeting for her. Consider it done, Nate takes the hint and leaves (both making faces as the office door closes behind him)
