At the ranch, Victor’s throwing himself a pity party at his chess table. Try as he might, he just can’t pull his fractured family together.
When Adam joins Nick at the jazz lounge, he’s ordered to leave Sharon alone.
Chance gets a very warm reception from Sharon when he drops by CL’s to tell her that he just came from booking Phyllis.
Nate and Vikki have brought their drinks upstairs to the Newman suite and are in bed. It’s time for the dreaded talk – what do you want from this relationship? she asks.
Nikki wonders why Victor’s so defeated. Whining about each of his kids in turn (except Abby) he thinks it a mistake to have given them free rein. Nikki doesn’t like where this is going.
Adam’s not dragging Sharon into anything – it was her idea. And why is this any of Nick’s business? Shouldn’t you be with Sally? She’s strong but Sharon’s defenseless? he mocks Nick. Both think it’s time to give up on trying to be brothers.
Preparing espresso, Sharon hears that Phyllis’ arrest was uneventful – except that she seems to have a ‘get out of jail free’ card. Seeing paperwork with Cameron’s name on it, Chance learns that Sharon inherited Kirsten Inc.
Nate wants it all – to work side by side with Vikki and then go home to ‘our place’. Give me one good reason we can’t have it. Vikki’s answer is to kiss him.
Somehow managing to keep a straight face, Nikki claims that Victor’s shown remarkable restraint in letting his kids navigate their own lives. He doesn’t approve of Vikki replacing Nick with Nate and Adam’s going after Newman Media. He’s going to put an end to going easy on everyone.
Yes, Adam knows about Vikki replacing her brother with her boy toy – you’ll adjust. Given his brothers’ bad attitude, Nick won’t go work at McCall. On cue, they’re both summoned to the ranch by Victor.
Now dressed, Vikki and Nate receive the same text. Calling her Dad to confirm that there’s no emergency, she doesn’t like the sound of this.
Nick skids into the ranch to make sure his parents are OK, followed by Adam – who announces McCall’s new name – Adustus; as he’s going scorched earth. He won’t let Victor manipulate him anymore. That all stops tonight, Victor scowls as Vikki and Nate arrive to join the party.
