You’ve been through a terrible ordeal, Nate believes that Vikki’s looking out for her brother. He denies wanting to take Nick’s place. But, if Vikki wants to make me interim COO, that’s her call. Not buying Nate’s innocent act, Nick believes he’ll take advantage of the situation.
Adam Newman, am I right? Audra joins him at the jazz lounge’s bar. Do I even know you? Adam asks. Not yet, but you should, she replies.
Given her release forms, Sally falls apart. Opening the folder, page one is a ‘certificate of birth resulting in stillbirth’.
Audra Charles, COO of Newman Media, she introduces herself. She’s not flirting, she just wants to know the competition. I’m your lethal competition, Adam corrects. Audra’s done her research on his exploits. Having done his own research, Adam predicts that Audra will be in charge of Newman Media when Vikki brings Nate into the parent company. If you’re right, I’m more than ready to step up, Audra assures. Yeah, I just bet you are, Adam’s clearly not impressed.
At Society, Victor mopes about the family being at odds. Adam lost his child – we almost lost Faith and everyone’s going off in different directions (Faith, Noah, Johnny and Katie) He tells Nikki that Nate Hastings has something to do with Nick’s ‘departure’.
Tucker continues to eavesdrop from the bar as Nate wonders when he and Nick stopped being friends. After you betrayed your family and Elena, Nick adds that Neil was his friend. Nate didn’t end up betraying anyone – he couldn’t go through with it. Can we be friends again? Stay in your lane at Newman Media and stay away from Newman. That’ll prove (to Nick) that this isn’t a plan you’ve cooked up with my sister. If Vikki asks for his input, Nate won’t refuse her. Well, there it is, Nick’s suspicions have been confirmed.
Nate’s had it with Nick’s insults and insinuations – shouldn’t you be dealing with the turmoil in your life? Don’t blame me because you couldn’t prevent your daughter’s kidnapping – or be there for Sally when she lost her baby. Nick’s slowly preparing to stand when Tucker spots Vikki’s arrival – you should break that up, he says. Vikki marches over to scold Nick for blaming Nate. No worries – I can handle it, Nate shrugs it off. Getting a text from Sally (now allowed to go home) Nick leaves with a warning – do what you feel you have to but plans like this usually crash and burn.
Audra’s boring Adam with idle chit chat when Tucker comes over. Adam immediately assumes he’s up to no good. No, he was going to offer his condolences. How did you know? Adam’s surprised. There are no secrets, right Audra? Having no interest in talking to Tucker or his soon-to-be rival, Adam leaves Tucker to ask Audra if she’s pulled it off.
Back at Society, Nikki and Victor can’t believe Vikki would allow herself to be manipulated (not after Ashland) Victor’s sure Vikki’s the one driving this – but Nate’s eager to follow (and that he doesn’t like)
Nick asks Sally how she’s feeling. She’s ready to leave the hospital and doesn’t want to see Adam again. Nick won’t push her to forgive him. Let’s get you out of here. Where am I taking you? Nick wonders if she’s thought about his offer to move in with him.
Sally’s touched by Nick’s offer but it’s a big step she needs time to think about. She’d like to go to her suite at the club, shower and rest. Let’s do it, Nick takes her hand and continues to hold it when a nurse sits her in a wheelchair and pushes her out.
In his own suite at the club, a devastated Adam sits in bed, flashing back to learning he’s the father – feeling the baby kick and then Sally lashing out at him after losing the baby.
Over drinks in the jazz lounge, Audra updates Tucker that things are progressing nicely – the pieces are falling into place. Tucker ran into Nate – he spoke highly of you, says you’re an asset to the company. Warned about Adam, Audra’s confident that she can handle him. How are things with Ashley? Fine, but she’s hell bent on taking over Jabot. Yes, that WAS once his goal but fighting for a legacy company is destined to fail.
Nate reports that he held his own with Nick – but it looks like Vikki’s been put through the ringer. Yes, her parents were all over her about putting Nick on leave. It’s best for Nick and the company. She wants to officially name Nate as interim COO of Newman Enterprises, immediately – are you OK with that?
Next Week: Jack’s sounds disappointed in Diane – you lied to Kyle – again…. Kyle wants to separate – he asked me to move out, Summer whines to her Dad…. My achievements aren’t confined to the boardroom, Audra flirts – I have a few moves. I bet you do – how about you show me some, Kyle’s interested.
