Devon presses Lily until she confides that Billy’s pushing too hard to fit into his COO position. You have to love the job but he doesn’t and you can’t force it. When Nate and Audra arrive, he makes introductions. Devon and Lily try not to react to Nate sounding very familiar with Audra.
Chelsea’s at Newman looking for Vikki but finds Nick instead. Yes, she’s nervous – this news could impact Johnny’s life forever.
Back in the park, Johnny knows all about being adopted. No, he has no questions and doesn’t think about his birth Mother. It’s OK if you do, Vikki thinks it might be the right time. Johnny’s stunned to hear that Chelsea’s his Mother. I said I didn’t want to know – you told me anyway – is something going to change!?
The introductions continue. Nate’s been singing your praises, Audra informs Lily and Devon that she met Nate by coincidence last night – he gallantly took me out to breakfast to let me pick his brain. Both are excited to hear the IPO is a go. Audra explains her role in detail to the trio. She looks forward to joining this team of all-stars. This could be the most satisfying business move you could make.
Johnny’s pissed that everyone in town knew who his Mother was. I never want to talk about it again, he storms off.
Meanwhile, at Newman, Chelsea knows she made the right decision letting Vikki raise him. She and Billy have done a great job, Nick agrees – Johnny’s at a tricky age but he’ll understand. Getting a text from Billy, Chelsea’s overjoyed – it’s done.
Officially hired, Audra leaves to get started. The tension between Devon and Nate resumes immediately (was Devon taking a jab at Nate or complimenting him? Hmmm)
Vikki returns to tell Nick that she’s sorry she missed a meeting. Not caring that Chelsea was there, Vikki’s only concern is Johnny.
On the CL’s patio, Chelsea blathers on – does Johnny want to see me?! We’re not gonna push things with him, Billy repeats. Johnny doesn’t want his world to change. Chelsea’s pushy to the point that Billy worries that Johnny isn’t really her first priority. He looks grim as she leaves in tears.
In the park, Chelsea’s distracted when Adam talks about Connor’s soccer game and downright nasty when he suggests a family outing. I would never use my son to mix me – I just want to love him; why can’t anyone understand that!? she leaves Adam puzzled.
Vikki worries she’s made a terrible mistake. Nick reassures her and offers to spend time with Johnny. I’m here; whatever you need. Getting a text from Sally, his smile intrigues Vikki – who’s that? In her office, Sally’s smiling too (dinner’s a go)
Lily doesn’t feel it’s her place to tell Devon what’s going on with Billy – but getting some numbers from Audra, both are excited to be doing this together.
Nick shows himself out when Vikki gets a call from Nate. It’s official – Chancellor Winters is going public. Where and when can we meet to talk about our next big step?
My Thoughts: Why on earth would Vikki and Billy tell Johnny such important news in a public park? The poor kid should have been able to stomp upstairs to his room. Now he’s wandering around the park and will eventually have to return with his tail between his legs for a ride home. Oh – what am I thinking? Everything in GC is just 10 feet away. And there’s Uber … Devon might be a bit overbearing but Nate’s turning into a traitor. Good thing corporate espionage is A-OK in GC. No one learns from history – taking a company public never goes well and neither does bouncing between the Newman brothers; it didn’t go well for Sharon, Phyllis, and Chelsea. And since the storylines are recycled it won’t be long before Sally’s clutching her non-existent baby bump and wondering who fathered it.
