Nick catches Sharon closing CL’s for the night. It’s over – Chance is going to file his report in the morning declaring Ashland’s death was due to a car accident.
Abby’s surprised to find Chance drinking at Society’s bar.
Adam’s at the ranch to ask his Dad if he wants him to vacate the tackhouse so that Vikki can move in. He is just a placeholder for his sister after all. The kids are asleep upstairs – Vikki’s moving back into her place, Victor informs.
At home, Vikki’s nerves are getting the better of her. Yanking back the curtains, she relives seeing Ashland outside.
Vikki flashes back to the last bitter fight with Ashland, then Nick racing in to rescue her.
Adam can’t get over the feeling that his Father had something to do with Ashland’s death. He only dropped by the main house to say hello so he won’t be accused of slinking onto the property. Victor asks him to stay for a drink.
Your Father was only trying to help, Sharon correctly guesses that Nick’s still upset with Victor and that he may have been using that to distract from dealing with having killed a man.
Hearing that the investigation will be closed tomorrow, Abby’s relieved that her Father wasn’t involved in a cover-up, until Chance makes it clear that the evidence suggests otherwise.
Chance didn’t quite have enough to convince the DA so made a judgment call. Abby can tell that he’s not happy about it.
Sharon offers to help guide Nick through his conflicting emotions.
Adam tells Victor that Connor’s taking a break from sports to learn coding. Victor’s sure he’ll grow up to be a success. Unlike me, Adam sulks, but Victor refuses to be ‘goaded into a fight’.
Billy saw the lights on when driving by. Yes, this is Vikki’s first night home since Ashland died. Nothing’s changed and yet everything has, she weeps in his arms.
