Devon makes it clear that whatever his issues are with Nate, we’re still family – and he considers Elena’s family too. She feels the same way.

Lily appreciates Nate’s candor. He appreciates her considering his idea. You’re pretty good at this leadership thing. What’s the next step? Lily will figure that out with Devon.

Over salads and wine, Diane admits that she’s been nervous and fearful but also excited. Being a grandmother and starting a new career is rewarding. She’s determined to take the high road with Phyllis – even if she can’t.

Nikki and Phyllis engage in some mild bickering as they try to decide where Talia should focus her investigation.

Nate explains that he wasn’t at the office because Lily asked him to meet her here (CL’s) Elena assumes it was a rough conversation. No, quite the opposite; Nate thinks things will get better.

Back at CW, Lily runs the idea of doing their own music festivals by Devon. He likes the idea but frowns when hearing it’s Nates’.

Nate’s confident that Lily will support his ideas – she gets what’s going on between him and Devon. He’s puzzled by Elena’s lack of reaction. What am I missing?

Nate’s ideas? Did he put you up to this? No, Lily wanted to gauge Devon’s reaction to the idea. Yes, maybe it’s a bit ‘underhanded’ but she’s just trying to help. This is between me and Nate, Devon leaves Lily to huff in frustration.

Diane doesn’t blame Phyllis for feeling threatened and ‘displaced’ – she gets to spend so much time with Harrison, Kyle and Summer – and look at us. She should relax – I’m not trying to take anything from her. You and Phyllis have such a deep bond (she hints that they might reconcile)

Summer can’t stand it any longer. Go, Kyle looks disappointed when she hurries over to ask her Mom and grandmother what they’re doing together.

When Jack tries to change the subject, Diane adds that she only wants Phyllis to get over her jealousy; letting it control you is a terrible way to live – I should know. Jack’s relieved and surprised – he appreciates Diane’s candor, and when she wants to discuss a more pressing matter; dessert, he looks like it’s the most brilliant statement he’s ever heard.

While Kyle looks annoyed, Summer’s across a few tables over. Off to meet Victor, Nikki quickly explains that she and Phyllis met a reporter writing a story about Ashland. Now alone with her Mom, Summer doesn’t believe a word of it.

Nate wants CW to be a better environment for Elena too – he hopes Lily won’t have to intercede anymore if she can convince Devon that they’re all on the same team. Elena warns that Devon might push back. Called in for her shift early, she tells Nate not to wait up. Devon then arrives to confront Nate – what are you trying to pull?

My Thoughts; Well done Lily. Yes, your leadership skills are really top-notch. I’m no co-CEO but I’d think any idea should come complete with a cost estimate, revenue projection and logistics analysis. And when did Chancellor Industries become solely a recording artist label? … Is Lily ever going to see Billy so she can open her gift? … Nice to see that Summer inherited both her Mother and grandmother’s trait of being a busybody. It’s a good thing the ladies didn’t meet at Society …. Why does Jack look so captivated with Diane? She’s a bit old to be playing naive engineer … Why is Elena so grumpy? If she’s aggravated now, just wait until Imani returns… Have you ever seen someone as well dressed as Nate in a coffee shop? Me neither…. This investigative reporter sure is going to feel like an idiot when she finds out she’s being steered away from a billionaire’s murder conspiracy to snoop through Diane’s boring life in LA. Maybe Nikki shouldn’t be so quick to speak for Jack. I doubt he’d want to make himself ‘available’ for Talia; who’d also want to interview Ally.
