At CL’s, Chelsea thanks Billy for his kindness the other day in the park, when she was ‘having a moment’. Oh, but she doesn’t like his podcast.
After Mike ends a call with someone in NY, Lauren joins him in TGP lobby to ask what that was about. ‘All system’s go’, Mike sends Victor a text – then looks all offended when Lauren guesses as much.
Sally strolls into Adam’s office for his daily ego boost, by reading glowing reviews of his press conference. He’s confident he can whip this place into shape IF another shoe’s not about to drop.
Victor’s summoned Nick to Society. Looking very pleased with himself, he announces that whatever venture Vikki and Ashland are about to embark upon will hit a brick wall.
Ashland returns to the NY hotel suite with Thai food and some bad news. Vikki has some bad news too.
Billy’s surprised but open to constructive criticism – why does Chelsea find his podcast so ‘off-putting’?
There’s no danger of me landing in a foreign prison again, Mike reassures. Done nagging, Lauren suggests they book a room upstairs.
Ashland’s bad news is that he wasn’t able to poach a marketing genius away from Newman. Vikki’s bad news is worse – the investors turned us down. Every one of them? What are the odds of that? Ashland wonders.
Victor’s always one step ahead – he’s even had Mike warn future investors away from Ashland. Yeah, but if Vikki was testing my loyalty, I failed, Nick pouts.
The Baldwins wasted no time getting romantic in their suite.
You can handle any crisis, Sally reassures Adam. He wouldn’t put it past Vikki to come back and he wouldn’t put it past his Dad to kick him to the curb if she did.
The investors were vague, Vikki knows what Ashland’s thinking. Yeah, that this is the kind of move her Father would make.
Victor tells Nick that he made the right decision confiding in him – he just let potential investors know that Ashland’s about to die from cancer. His lie is coming back to bite him. Nick feels guilty and nervous, Victor barks that he’ll do ‘whatever it takes’ to save Vikki and this company!
Back at CL’s, Chelsea thought Billy’s first few episodes where mired in self-recrimination; it’s too dark, people want uplifting stuff – like Billy’s humour. He’d forgotten how well she used to know him.
The Baldwins part ways at the elevator with a kiss. Lauren has to get back to work – Mike stays to make more phone calls.
