Victor’s trying/failing to distract Nikki with the dessert menu when Nick calls. All he can see is wreckage – three cars; one’s Vikki’s. She’s not here, which is good news – she probably went to get help – with Ashland. Victor’s not happy to hear that he’s involved.
Ashland was only able to free himself so that he could save Vikki. I couldn’t let you die in a burning car. The way the real Ashland Locke died, Vikki sees the irony. Ashland was taken back to the night he wasn’t able to save his friend – but his focus right now is getting help for Vikki. Why is that so important? she asks quietly – why can’t you just let me go?
What the hell does Ashland Locke have to do with this!? Victor barks into his phone. Nick recognized his car. As lights and sirens go by, he’s sad to report that the third car was Rey’s – he didn’t make it. This will break Sharon’s heart, and Faith’s, he chokes up.
At the foggy accident scene, it’s decided that Nick will be the one to tell Sharon; Chance will search for Vikki.
Slowly flipping the ‘open’ sign to ‘closed’, a worried Sharon leaves another message for Rey. I love you – call me to let me know you’re OK.
The paperwork Ashland signed is meaningless to him. Like our marriage license, Vikki lied about wanting to run off with him. I wanted you out of my life – why did you follow me? Ashland just wanted to make sure she was OK. Pledging his love, he’ll find a way to move on knowing that she’s alright. When Nikki and Victor arrive at the cabin, Vikki refuses to go to the hospital until she knows what happened to Rey.
When Nick shows up at CL’s, Sharon asks how Vikki is. Sit – we can talk about Mariah’s wedding plans while we wait for word on her. Sensing the obvious, she delays Nick confirming what she already senses; Rey could be dead asleep but still wake up when smelling brownies baking. He was involved in the accident, Nick can barely get the words out.
At the cabin, Vikki asks her parents where Rey is. He didn’t make it, Victor then starts to grill Ashland. He saved my life, she interrupts.
Nick finally breaks the bad news that Sharon doesn’t want to hear. There wasn’t anything the EMTs could do. OMG, I can’t! Sharon sobs in his arms.
