At the cafe in LA, Jack waits impatiently for Kyle to get back to him. I’ll fly to Milan if I have to. Phyllis urges him to do it soon – Diane’s a loose cannon. Jack breaks into a smile when Ally arrives.
Diane’s in her new house. On the mantel is a framed photo of young Kyle with her and Jack. In her hand is a piece of paper with Kyle’s number on it.
Jack boasts to Phyllis about his smart granddaughter. He’s so grateful that they’re getting to know one another. Is something wrong? It’s not you, it’s me. There’s something you should know.
Mariah’s gathered the family at CL’s for an announcement. When Nick’s mood is noticed, he claims to be fine and tells some bad Dad-jokes to prove it. Tessa now joining the group, Mariah’s happy to report that they’ve set a wedding date.
Mariah and Tessa are getting married on May 13th. Yes, they know (and don’t care) it’s a Friday; we’re fearless. Faith thinks it sounds like a really bad idea.
Ally tells Jack (and Phyllis) that she went back to the house to talk to Diane; who spoke mostly about Kyle (he sounds like a remarkable young man) Also proud of his son, Jack mentions that Kyle’s coming to GC soon. He’d love to fly Ally out there so she can meet him and the rest of the Abbotts.
13 is a lucky number in China, Tessa and Mariah point out. While Nick thinks Faith might be on to something, Noah’s the only supportive one. We all support you, Sharon reassures – everyone here wants you to have the wedding of your dreams.

If I’ve done this correctly, you should see a photo of an adorable dog named Winston. He’s the puppy of a good friend of mine who has a lump on the side of his face that’s the size of a grapefruit. It was drained once but came back, so Winston now has to see a veterinary cancer specialist and will likely need surgery. My friend has set up a GoFundMe and I’m hoping that some of my dear readers will be able to help. We’re all going through hard times these days, but if you could spare even $5 or $10, it would be greatly appreciated. The link will open in a new page so as not to interrupt your reading. Ads have been suspended while we’re fundraising for Winston. Thanks so much!!
Ally might be able to visit GC (depending on her school schedule) Asking about Ally’s conversation with Diane, Phyllis makes her opinion abundantly clear; Jack does too but with more restraint. Ally believes that Diane loves her son very much – maybe she deserves a second chance.
Jack respects Ally’s kindness and optimism. Kyle will have to decide whether he’s willing to give his Mother a second chance. He’s asked him to come to GC. This will be a real shock. If Kyle forgives Diane, Ally wonders if Jack could too. Not even trying to conceal her hatred for Diane, Phyllis wonders if she sent Ally to talk to Jack. No, no, Ally came on her own – but she is convinced that Diane wants to ‘do better’.
Diane dials Kyle’s number, flashing back to Jack adamantly refusing to reconnect her with her son (detailing the young boys’ grief) Diane then flashes back to what she told Ally; words that convinced her that Diane loves Kyle very much.
Back at CL’s, Mariah and Tessa just want everyone they love at their wedding. Noah has something ‘off-center’ to show them. Mariah and Tessa love whatever they’re looking at on his tablet; 70’s glam; theatrical and colourful! You nailed it! Nick will NOT dress up as Ziggy Stardust.
Ally must get back to class, and Jack needs to get back to GC (other people need to know that Diane’s alive) When Jack offers to fly her out there, Ally appreciates that but must think about it. Asked if they’re ‘together’, Jack and Phyllis neither confirm nor deny. Getting a text from Diane, Ally will heed Jack’s (and Phyllis’) advice and replies with ‘that won’t be possible’. Jack’s ecstatic when Ally gives him a big hug goodbye. He’s left to fume about Diane contacting Ally against his wishes. Nobody stops Diane, Phyllis asserts – nobody. Wanna bet?! Jack seems up to the challenge.
Mariah has no doubt that they can pull it all together before May 13th. As for 70’s food, Rey suggests fondue. Too messy, Nick quickly vetos. And when Nick and Sharon launch into a story about the time Sharon’s platform shoe broke and he had to carry her home, Tessa gushes ‘aw, how romantic’. All are laughing when Chelsea arrives to read the room.
Diane’s reading Ally’s text when Jack and Phyllis show up. What are you up to? Why are you still trying to manipulate my granddaughter?! Jack snarls.
Chelsea didn’t mean to interrupt a family gathering, she came to talk to Rey about his trip to Chicago. I used to have a bridal line, she offers to help Mariah and Tessa if they need anything. When Rey follows Chelsea onto the patio (a bit too enthusiastically Sharon notices) she gives him good news, her trip was postponed – she got a ticket to the game too!
Back inside, Mariah hopes her Mom doesn’t have a problem with the wedding. She’s making it personal to her and Tessa. Sharon loves that – it’s your special day. She couldn’t be happier or more proud that her daughter’s marrying the love of her life ~hug~
What exactly did Ally accuse me of? Diane protests – she came to ME. I just told her how wonderful the Abbott family is. That’s not the point – you asked her to come here after I told you to leave her alone! Jack bellows (as Phyllis chimes in every now and then) What is it you want? Why are you exploiting Ally? Jack’s asked Kyle to come home – he’ll tell him his Mother’s alive and give him Diane’s number. Whether he calls is up to Kyle. The last thing Jack wants is for his son’s heart to be broken. Sadly, that’s all you’re capable of! he marches out.
Rey doesn’t want to be a third wheel; he knows how much Connor treasures time alone with his Mom. Connor wants you to come, Chelsea says – you’re his new best friend, please don’t let him down. Looking inside, Rey sees Nick and Sharon talking animatedly. I’d be happy to go with you, he smiles.
Back at the cafe, Phyllis thinks Ally’s smart – she’ll heed our warnings. Yeah, we made progress, Jack hopes Ally comes to GC. He thanks Phyllis for coming all this way to check on him. No one should have to go through this alone, Phyllis reminds – we’re always there for one another when it counts. How will we tell everyone that Diane’s alive? Half of GC wanted to kill her.
Diane’s on the phone booking the next available flight from LA to GC.
