I didn’t know you were in town, Diane stands at her front door. I didn’t know you were alive, Phyllis replies calm and cool. Jack stands by silently when Diane assumes he and Phyllis are together again.
Billy gets a warm welcome from his sisters when he arrives at the house. Jack’s in LA and not responding to anyone’s texts. Billy doesn’t find that too weird but Ashley’s sure ‘something’s not right’ and that Jack could be headed for heartache.
Once inside, Phyllis lashes out at Diane; you don’t deserve to reconnect with Kyle! Jack informs Diane that Phyllis is the only reason he came back at all!
Phyllis managed to convince Jack that Kyle should be told. But don’t thank me – I did NOT do it for you. Not wanting Kyle to be blindsided, Jack will talk to him. Diane decides she might just stop being a coward and talk to Kyle herself.
Secrecy and subterfuge, mysterious texts luring Jack to LA, Ashley thinks maybe Ally sent Jack the messages. It doesn’t feel right that someone sent them anonymously. Jack’s too blinded to see red flags. Traci’s concern is that Ally’s not as excited as Jack is about meeting the family. Billy’s neutral. Ashley did some digging and found something interesting about Ally.
Announcing that she has Kyle’s number in Milan, Diane can see how much Phyllis cares for Jack. Phyllis cares about Kyle too. Ah yes, Diane heard that he married Summer – who would guess they’d fall in love and raise a child together? We’re grandparents Jack! Taking credit for bringing Jack and Ally together, Diane expected gratitude from him.
Ashley researched Ally online; she’s getting a degree in chemical engineering. Jack will likely offer her a job at Jabot. What if she’s taking advantage of Jack – we don’t know what her motives are. Billy sees Ashley’s point – there are people out there who’ll do what they can to take what they want.
Jack details how heartbroken Kyle was; he grieved for his Mother. Diane owes it to Kyle to try, and hopes Jack will help her. Phyllis jumps in – don’t threaten to go to Kyle. Jack orders Diane to stay away from Ally – she just lost her Father. He wouldn’t blame his granddaughter if she wanted nothing to do with him or the family. Jack admits that he is grateful that Diane let him know about Keemo and Ally – so, he will tell Kyle that his Mother’s alive. If he doesn’t want you in his life, you’re to walk away. That’s what you did with Keemo, Diane points out – which puts Phyllis in gear; it’s time to go! Diane again remarks on how much Phyllis cares for Jack – I hope it works out this time, she says as Phyllis hustles Jack out.
Traci doesn’t want to rush to judgment – Jack’s granddaughter might be a nice, normal person. She’s dealing with a lot right now; Billy can relate to being late to the Abbott family table. It’s not easy being the outsider. He hopes Jack and Ally build a connection – he deserves it.
At the cafe, Phyllis comments that Diane hasn’t changed. Jack decides to contact Kyle before Diane does. This will change him forever – and I’m partly to blame.
