Of course Phyllis can fit Abby in for a mani-pedi. But both are taken aback when Ashley launches into a tirade. She’s suspicious of Ally; this long lost granddaughter who rejected Jack then wanted to see him. Not wanting him to get hurt, she’s surprised Phyllis encouraged Jack. What were you thinking – or were you thinking at all???
Letting Rey in, Chance announces that he wants to come back to work. It was his therapists’ idea. Going back to what I love and am good at will help my recovery. Rey has to be honest – as friend and partner, he worries that Chance isn’t ready. I have to be ready, Chance is determined.
Phyllis doesn’t believe that Ally’s a schemer; she didn’t know who Jack was when he reached out to her. She could be the mystery texter, Ashley wants to call Jack. Back off – you have no idea what you’re sticking your nose into, Phyllis protests. There were no red flags. It means so much to Jack; connecting to his son through his granddaughter. Don’t taint this for him.
Back in LA, Ally’s been thinking about what happened between Jack and her Dad. Having read the letters, she understands why her Dad was mad but also understands that Jack was in a tough position. Jack respected Luan’s wishes but regrets the way he handled it and not repairing his relationship with Keemo. I made mistakes – I have to live with them. Knowing that Keemo lives on in Ally helps Jack a lot.
Chance guarantees Rey that he won’t freeze again. His therapist is ex-military; he thinks I’m up for it. What’s changed? Rey presses. Chance hadn’t addressed his trauma. Instead of going on stakeouts he’ll ease his way back. I need to be a detective again. I won’t let you down, he vows. Now convinced, Rey agrees – let’s take it to the Chief.
Meanwhile, at TGP, Abby referees her Mom and Phyllis – we must support Jack and not fight. Phyllis apologizes. Ashley accepts (without offering an apology of her own) She’s not trying to make things harder for Jack but Ally’s a stranger. I’m trying to protect my family. Jack’s smart – trust him to do the right thing, Phyllis requests.
Over lunch, Jack brings Ally out of her shell. He lost his Mother too. You had her a lot longer, Ally’s again withdraws. She loved her Dad more than anyone in the world. I need to go study – we don’t know each other. Jack’s back-pedaling pays off. How long will your business keep you in LA? Ally asks. His schedule open, Jack’s pleased that Ally wants to see him again before he leaves.
Noah hopes he didn’t get carried away. Gaping at the tablet he’s handed over, Mariah loves the invitations. They’re amazing. How lucky she is to have such a talented brother. And I a talented brother in law, Tessa chimes in. All three liking the same design, Mariah goes for lattes. That leaves Tessa to pester Noah on what’s going on with him.
Now alone at the restaurant, Jack calls Phyllis to update that he and Ally connected. She wants to get together again before I leave. He’s glad he took Phyllis’ advice to make the first move. And she’s happy for him.
Ashley drops Abby off. Jet lagged, she needs to take a nap but will see Abby later. Abby hates to admit it but Phyllis is right – we should trust Jack’s judgment. Ashley has this gnawing feeling that trouble’s ahead.
Ally drops by her old home with a housewarming gift for Taylor, to thank her for the advice the other day. You just found out that your grandfather’s alive, that must be overwhelming, Taylor understands. Ally just came from seeing him; he seems like a good man. He’d probably do anything to lend you a hand, Taylor’s words are quickly met with a denial that Ally wants any help from her grandfather. Taylor just meant that he probably hopes you can rely on him, as family. She has a favour to ask.
Rey updates Abby that Rey talked to Paul – I go back to work tomorrow morning. Abby’s surprised but supportive and proud ~hug~
As Mariah pours lattes, Sharon asks how Noah seems to her. He’s been out and about a lot; blows me off, she grumbles. Your grown son doesn’t want to share every detail of his life? Shocking, Mariah quips. But yes, you ARE the coolest Mom ever, she agrees. Noah seems fine to her.
On the patio, Tessa is NOT letting this go. Fine, Noah doesn’t know what’s going on with him – or what he’s even doing anymore.
Jack’s now back in Keemo’s old house. I thought you sold this place, he’s confused. The new owner wants to meet you, Ally explains. Was I wrong to agree to bring you here? Jack’s stunned when Taylor (Diane Jenkins) walks in. No, it can’t be, he utters. It’s true. I’ve waited a very long time for this moment, she smiles ear to ear as Jack’s jaw hangs open in astonishment.
