Victor’s summoned Nick to Newman Media to update that Nate looked into Ashland’s medical records after his heart attack; no cancer, no treatment appointments, no prescriptions. Sonofabitch! Nick seethes. The next step is to convince Vikki – Nick will get some ‘reinforcements’.
Vikki finds Ashland already at the office. When he comments on her tossing and turning last night, she claims to be furious at her Father. Ashland has a way to ‘combat’ what Victor’s trying to do to them.
At CL’s, Nate feels guilty for accessing medical records and giving the info to a third party. But, no, he wouldn’t do anything differently. This changes everything for me, he tells Elena.
Nick returns with his Mom and Adam. They’re all on the same page; Nate’s trustworthy and the evidence speaks for itself. Since Vikki doesn’t believe that Ashland’s lying, Nick sees only one option – and it’s going to take all of us to pull it off.
Nate’s worried that Ashland could ruin his reputation; people might find out what I did. They’d give you the key to the city for exposing him, Elena’s pissed off that Ashland used Nate. That man is shameless; someone should make him pay. Nate’s still mad at himself; I almost went to work for him. Now, what will I do? On cue, Lily arrives with Devon.
Ashland suggests a getaway to Tuscany; spend some time with Harrison and work on how to stop this thing before it gets out of control. Vikki doesn’t want anyone to think they’re running. Ashland suspects that her Father’s raised more doubts than Vikki’s willing to admit.
So, that’s the plan, we have to move fast, Nick asserts. It’s never going to work, Adam’s pessimistic. Nikki’s worried that Vikki may never forgive them. Nick wants to get her alone and put all the evidence in front of her. He doesn’t care about the company – he only cares about his sister (and so should you, Nick barks at Adam) Now that Ashland’s been made co-CEO, he might want to get Vikki out of the way.
Devon and Lily were indeed eavesdropping. They wonder why Nate’s decided that working for Ashland’s not a good fit. Accepting his and Elena’s vague deflecting, Lily thinks that she and Devon have the perfect solution for Nate.
You think Ashland would get rid of his wife? Nikki frets. He left his best friend to die and stole his identity, Adam reminds. Victor points his finger – that SOB won’t harm one hair on Vikki’s head; he’ll make sure of it. Are you in Adam? Nick challenges. Yes. And so is Nikki – anything for my daughter.
Back at the office, Ashland gets the sense that Vikki has doubts about him now; he’d never deceive her. Vikki thinks he’d be foolish and desperate to lie to her again. Ashland’s neither of those things. She has a great capacity for forgiveness but some lines can’t be crossed. If Ashland has anything to confess, now would be the time.
This is high-level, top-secret stuff; Devon and I are merging Chancellor with Hamilton Winters, Lily confides. Nate and Elena are excited for them. We want to run this business as a family, and that includes Nate.
