Wrapping up a productive business lunch at Society, Vikki confirms to her Mom/COO that both she and Ashland will be keeping an eye Adam.
* A new actor has taken over the role of Ashland.
Adam strolls into Vikki’s office to hear that she and Nikki are out for lunch. When Ashland makes it clear that he’ll be heavily involved in running the day to day operations, Adam looks forward to his perspective (since they’re on the same team) You’ll definitely be hearing from me, Ashland assures ominously.
You’ve GOT to be kidding me. Lily gets a call informing her that an exec she wanted to promote is resigning. She calls Billy – you’ll find someone, he’s sure. I need help, Lily murmurs as she looks in Society’s window. Nikki! She’ll have to meet up with Billy later ~click~
When Sally approaches him at CL’s, Billy doesn’t recognize her without the ridiculous wig and glasses. She congratulates him on his COO gig at Chancellor. Wishing her good luck finding a new job, Billy’s surprised to hear that she already has one – COO of Newman Media. How about that? she grins – we have the same job.
At Society, Lily asks Nikki if she can stay a few minutes so she can pick her brain.
We both landed on our feet, Sally’s glad. You went from third banana at a fashion platform to second in command at a prestigious media conglomerate, Billy doesn’t think that landing on your feet – that’s flying above the clouds. Your spying must have paid off. He doesn’t care to hear about Sally’s vast business experience; Adam hired you because you’ll do whatever he asks. Is that why Lily hired you as COO? Sally fires back. Before you took the high road, you tried to entrap Adam – you’re not the victim.
Back at Newman Locke, Ashland thinks Adam must be excited about his expanded universe. Sure, you probably didn’t anticipate working for your sister but great things are happening here – you’ll be glad you came aboard. Adam sees it the other way around – you and Vikki will be glad I stuck around. You’ll have to make some adjustments – you’re no longer the sole decision maker. He makes it clear that both he and Vikki will be breathing down his neck.
No, Lily’s not looking for guidance on how to handle Jill – she’d like to ask Nikki about Katherine. She didn’t set out to be a business mogul, Nikki confides. She was ahead of her time, loved being underestimated and had fun shaking things up. That would be Kay’s advice – have fun. Chancellor has been run by business legends including my Dad, Lily fears she’s not in the same league. Neil and Kay are watching over you, Nikki adds that Jill wouldn’t have put her in charge if she wasn’t ready. You’ll make all of them proud.
Billy doesn’t trust cats, or Sally/Adam. We felt bad that your life was such a wreck. Sally’s glad they’re all happy and moved on. If it was Vikki’s idea to keep Adam on, Billy knows it won’t last long. Good luck, Sally (he says as he exits)
This is an excellent opportunity for you – but Ashland warns Adam that any insubordination or challenge to their authority will not be tolerated. Are you and Vikki one entity now? Adam quips – you talk like Vikki’s equal partner. Because that’s exactly what I am, Ashland makes clear. Adam questions Ashland’s change in attitude towards him – am I easier to dismiss because I’m out of favour with Victor? What’s going on here? Vikki arrives to ask.
At home, Victor gets a text from Mike (in Peru) Ashland’s name opens doors but he hasn’t been able to confirm any financial ties. Good work. Stay on it, Victor types back.
Lily comes home with take out from Society. She can’t believe that girl from accounting jumped ship. Billy’s not surprised to hear that Lily went to Nikki for input on Katherine. Lily’s not convinced she can live up to her predecessors – but isn’t sure she can talk to Billy about it. Why? Because it’s the job you wanted.
We were making a friendly bet on how long I’ll last under this new regime, Adam jokes. He then tells Vikki that he hired a COO – Sally Spectra. Yes, he remembers what she did to Summer (but is still unclear on how she was harmed) Sally wants a clean slate – we have that in common. Do I have the autonomy to hire and fire? Or do I have to run everything by you? Vikki’s fine with it. See you around the water cooler, Adam quips on his way out. That leaves Vikki to opine that Sally being a reckless opportunist might work to our advantage. You’re two steps ahead of everyone, Ashland chuckles. He’s then summoned to the ranch by Victor.
