Adam joins Nikki and Victor at Society to announce that he’ll be staying at Newman Media. It’s the right decision, Victor’s glad to hear it.
Back in Adam’s empty office, Chloe and Chelsea debate what to do. Chelsea’s open to start their own fashion platform from scratch – but just the two of us, not Sally.
Back on the patio, Mike replies to a text and assures Lauren that he’s given Victor ‘boundaries’. Nick arrives to express surprise that Mike’s going back to work for his Father. Better you than me.
Vikki and Ashland join her parents and Adam. Shall we toast? Adam can’t say no to champagne. You might have to, or else you’ll tick off your new boss, Vikki quips. Taking Victor over to the bar, Ashland has ideas. No need to wait for Vikki – he’ll take point on this. They return to the table so Victor can toast ‘to all things Newman’.
Wishing Mike good luck with the new job, Nick leaves him unable to tell Lauren what he’s working on (client/attorney privilege) He then gets a call that alarms him.
Nate feels that he deserved that punch from Devon. Elena wishes she could go back in time and take it all back. I have a great life, Nate has no regrets – I love you.
We can’t drop Sally; she’s a proven asset, Chloe argues. Chelsea disagrees – she’s baggage. She can’t stay in her own lane. And, she knew about the sale, she suspects. We don’t know or trust Sally the way we know and trust each other.
As Adam leaves, Vikki asks that he call her assistant to schedule a meeting. She and Ashland head back to the office. Nikki concludes the meeting was more civil than she expected. Nick comes in to comment to his parents that he passed half the family on his way in – and no bloodshed. So many of the family working together. Be careful what you wish for, he warns his Father.
Nick hopes the family working together goes well. His concern is so many cooks in the kitchen, most of them think they’re the head chef. Is that sustainable? After Nick leaves with is take out, Nikki asks Victor what Ashland wanted to talk to him about. He wants to push through some changes without Vikki’s input; to have more power now that he’s healthy. Victor won’t let that happen; he’ll watch Ashland’s every step.
Back at the office, Ashland wonders whether Victor will settle for an advisory role. There’s someone else’s role Vikki wants to redefine first – yours.
Glad that Chloe and Chelsea asked her to meet them at CL’s, Sally has a ton of ideas to prove how valuable they are. Our fashion platform’s being killed, Chelsea interrupts her. Adam wouldn’t do that to me…. us, Sally corrects herself. Told that Vikki put an end to it, Sally suggests they start a new platform on their own. It’s over – time to move on, Chelsea’s firm.
Adam mopes back into his office on the verge of tears.
Sally’s sure Chloe and Chelsea plan to start their own venture without her. It’ll fail, she warns – I’M the reason the fashion platform took off in the first place. You’re a has-been and you’re a fool for following Chelsea 2.0 or whatever number you’re at, she storms out.
Ashland hopes Vikki welcomes him taking on a more active role at the company. She agrees – you’re more familiar with some of Locke’s divisions. He’s glad she sees things the way he does.
Mike’s at the ranch to discuss business with Victor (though, as Newman’s COO, Nikki protests briefly before excusing them) Mike’s noticed some inconsistencies with Ashland’s treatment; some question as to the legitimacy of the clinic and the treatment. Victor questioned why he’d go all the way to Peru – dig deeper.
