Finding Nick drinking at Society in the middle of the day, Vikki has a drink too, then complains about Dad investigating Ashland. Nick sees both sides – sure, it’s wrong for a parent to meddle – but look how well that turned out for Phyllis/Summer. He then spills all he knows – Ashland bought two stations from his mentor. Vikki knows all that (except where he got the money – and that’s none of our business)
Elena wants to take a different approach with AskMDNow. Her idea is to emulate the model of the clinic; by being proactive within the community. How do we translate that to an online platform? Lily wonders. Advertising – preventative care instead of just treating symptoms. We’re going to do great things together, Lily’s sold.
Sally calls Adam from the patio – she’d love to be his date to the launch party.
Handed her soup-to-go, Vikki tells Nick that Ashland’s suffering from the effects of chemo. Sorry to hear it, Nick insists that Dad doesn’t want to find anything in his past. He DOES respect your judgment. Nick also knows that Vikki will appreciate Dad investigating if Ashland’s past is clean.
Dressed to for the party, Victor gives Abby a quick call, then does the appropriate amount of kissing up to the ‘gorgeous’ Nikki before they leave arm in arm.
Declining another bowl of soup, Ashland decides to turn in for the night – go to the party; score points with your Father and get under Adam’s skin. Tempting, but Vikki would rather stay home and give Ashland a back rub.
Phyllis is in a different dress, same headset as she welcomes Victor and Nikki to the launch of Newman Media. While Victor goes to meet a board member, Nikki pauses to answer a call from Vikki (who, sadly, won’t be coming) Phyllis is dealing with an ice emergency when Nick arrives to declare the headset a turn on. After Phyllis goes to deal with another emergency, Nikki updates Nick that Vikki won’t be coming – she’s still annoyed that your Father had Ashland investigated. Both turn when Billy and Lily arrive (so much for Adam thinking he wouldn’t show/reverse psychology) Lily scolds Billy for being focused on Vikki and Ashland; make it less obvious. They aren’t coming, Nick appears to announce – so if that’s why Billy came, he doesn’t need to stay.
Nick elaborates – Vikki knows her Father had Ashland investigated, but the reason they’re staying home is Ashland being sick from chemo. Genuinely sorry to hear it, Lily pulls Billy away when he mentions the widow Ashland bought his first stations from …
Jack arrives to tell Phyllis how good she looks. They bond over missing the kids – and Billy causing trouble. Across the room, Elena’s called back to the hospital (leaving Nate with Lily and Billy) Keep an eye on him, Victor instructs Nick. Nikki joins them to assumedNick just told Victor ‘the news’. But that minor bombshell is forgotten when Adam arrives with Sally.
All heads turn. Jack stops Phyllis from kicking Sally out – you have an event to run. Everyone’s staring, Sally comments as she raises a glass with Adam – thanks for inviting me; it’ll be fun (though not for Jack and everyone else in the room glaring at dastardly duo)
My Thoughts: Oh, come ON. Really? Elena’s brilliant idea is, wait for it …. online advertising? Bwa ha ha. Ha ha. My sides! Stop! I’m in ‘stitches’! Hate to tell you Doc, but you’re only about a decade too late. And why does the co-CEO of ChanceCom (the Com standing for COMMUNICATIONS) need a doctor to give them ad revenue ideas!? …. Vikki and Ashland are all chemo/no chemistry. Whatsoever.
