Rey notices that Sharon’s distracted as she dries mugs (at CL’s) No, Adam’s not the issue – she’s concerned about Connor. Heaping praise, Rey instructs Sharon to trust her instincts. Adam appears to agree – Connor’s going down a darker road than any of us thought.
Nick and Chelsea’s date night goes downhill fast. He knows she loves her son but letting your 8-year-old child determine how you live your life is a mistake. Reminding that Nick hurt Connor by letting him think his grandfather was dead, Chelsea won’t accept advice from the world’s best Dad. Nick can’t pretend that Chelsea living with Adam is normal. Will she do so until Connor goes off to college? Chelsea defends Adam (who then summons her with a text) Looks like neither of our nights turned out as planned, Vikki comes over to sit.
A deck of cards spread out on the table, Billy sends Vikki a text apologizing for earlier – Telluride sounds perfect. When you’re happy, I’m happy. He then returns his attention to his beer and cards.
Adam relays Connor’s lies – what does he do about it? You and Chelsea need to sit him down and lay out some ground rules, Sharon advises. OK, Adam will let her know how it goes. If there’s anything I can do, Sharon offers. Looks like you were right, Rey says. Sharon wishes she weren’t.
Nikki tells Victor that Nick’s coming to pick Christian up early – his dinner with Chelsea didn’t go as planned. Victor doesn’t think Nikki should interfere (isn’t that what she’s always told him?) Touche – Nikki will hope for the best and not meddle.
Nick and Vikki talk over ice cream sundaes at Society. He’s pissed at Adam while Vikki blames Chelsea. Billy? He went to the gym, Vikki claims. Nick can see that something’s bothering her. She worries that walking away from Jabot is affecting Billy more than he’s letting on.
Billy continues to tell himself how great it is not to have to pretend to be someone he’s not – so why doesn’t this feel better? he wonders (as he’s playing cards for money)
Turning the lights off at CL’s, Sharon continues to worry about poor Connor – my heart bleeds for him. His struggles aren’t your fault, Rey thinks Sharon might be the kid’s best hope – given who his parents are.
Back at the penthouse, Chelsea’s alarmed to hear that Connor’s rejecting Sharon. Maybe moving in here and pretending everything’s fine was a mistake. He’ll keep acting out to get me to stay. Adam doesn’t believe Connor’s capable of being that manipulative. He thought I’d believe his lies about Sharon. Chelsea has to consider the long term damage this could cause. Adam reminds that Connor’s
only happy when we’re together. We have to figure out what changed and resolve it together.
Christian’s asleep by the time Nick comes to the ranch to pick him up. After Victor goes to wake him up, Nikki encourages Nick to confide in her. Nick’s vague – he now knows what he has to do.
Billy comes home to tell Vikki that he had a good work out – he’s off to take a shower. Yes, Vikki should come up and wash his back. That’s a fine idea.
