See you first thing in the morning, Ana tells Tessa – and there’s no need for Mariah to come with coffee and scones – we’ll be working; no distractions. On the elevator, Mariah insists she understands and has a lot of work to do herself anyway. Tessa will tell her all about it when she gets home.

Back at the dimly lit Abbott home, Traci types the beginnings of a new novel. It was 1946, America had won the war but Flynn’s wife had left him. He’s a shell of a man, heartbroken and lonely – wondering where it all went wrong. In the background, a black and white scene shows Cane, dressed appropriately for 1946, coming in to pour and gulp down a drink. In realtime, Cane sits on a park bench moping over Lily’s contact info on his phone.

Seated at Society, Elana talks to Devon about going to see her Uncle Jet perform with her Mom (she never knew her Father and her Mother died recently) Neither are fans of hearing ‘Sorry for your loss’ and Elana doesn’t want to discuss her Mother’s death. Let’s talk music.

When Kyle arrives at Society, Abby gushes about how happy she is for him and Lola – you did the right thing. She’s probably working away back there over a hot stove and not dressed to impress. Kyle wouldn’t care if Lola was wearing a burlap sack. Lola then appears looking great in black and hoping her attire is appropriate for wherever Kyle’s surprise takes them. Have fun, Abby beams like a proud Mama as Lola exits on Kyle’s arm.

A depressed Cane leaves Lily a message – to make sure she got back to Lakewood today. I won’t be calling you again – as much as it hurts he’ll respect her wishes. I’ll love you til my dying days *sniffle* Good bye, Lily ~click~

Still at the restaurant, Devon and Elana get to know one another. His first concert was Prince in the ’90’s. How old were you? Elena laughs. Kindergarten, Devon finds himself looking into Hilary’s face. Are you OK? Elana asks. Yes, Devon quickly regroups and refocusses on Elana.

Though blindfolded, Lola knows she’s on the roof of the restaurant, where the busboys hang out. Instructed to close her eyes, Lola’s blindfold is removed so that she can see the dark space illuminated with romantic fairy lights and a big screen displaying a night beach scene. Perfect, she sighs with a kiss.
