Mattie meets with her father, prying for details about what is going on between her parents.Cane sums it up by saying everyone is emotional, saying things they don’t mean (Devon). Mattie is not satisfied by Cane’s vague answers and wants to know exactly what happened when her mother went to the police. Cane caves and tells her Lily told the police she ran the red light. Mattie understands what this means for her mother and gets up to distance herself from her father. Cane follows and comforts her.
Jack joins Kyle at the bar to discuss the damage Billy has caused at Jabot. Kyle shares Ashley’s argument to get Phyllis on their side and they sulk over her unwavering loyalty to Billy. Kyle wants Jack to be C.E.O of Jabot, and he’ll do anything to make it happen.
Phyllis and Jack run into one another in the Jabot office and together they realize Summer has been playing them both.
Kyle interrupts Summer’s tanning time to question her loyalty to Billyinterestedn’t interesting in work-related conversation, but rather the spying Kyle is doing on Phyllis. Did she hook up with either of the pizza guys? No. Well if she isn’t back with Jack who did she sleep with?
The doorbell rings at Devon’s apartment, Cane bursting past Nate and immediately begging for him to defend Lily in court. Cane gives his full-length speech to which Devon walks away, telling him to get the hell out. Cane continues to beg for Devon to show his wife mercy however Devon can not begin to sympathize because despite a 20 year sentence, Lily will still be alive while Hilary remains dead. Cane goes to swing at Devon, but is quickly stopped by Nate who maneuvers Cane behind his grasp. All conversation stops, allowing each of them to calm down. Cane apologizes for his actions, expecting Devon to apologize for what he said about Lily, but he admits that he stands by every word.
After Cane leaves, Nate tells Devon that it is unacceptable for Devon to go around trashing people.
