Still in the office, Nate expresses concern for what Neil’s going through. They then watch Mariah announce Hilary’s death (as her chair sits empty) Gushing about the show and the woman who created it, Mariah struggles through her tears and jokes as she lists what Hilary taught her – including that not all stories have happy endings. Devon returns to watch behind Neil and Nate.

Summer has solid advice from a country song – the best way to get over someone is to get under someone new. As she leans in for a kiss, Billy puts a stop to it – even if he doesn’t get back with Phyllis, he won’t hook up with her daughter. Summer takes that to mean that Billy would be all over it if she weren’t Phyllis’ daughter. She’s left to smile smugly to herself when Billy escapes the office.

Phyllis thinks Hilary would be cool with her promoting Jack to her spot – best friend. Best friend, Jack echoes with a hug.

A devastated Devon watches Mariah continue to talk about Hilary and reveal a couple of secrets – Hilary reconnected a homeless woman with her family – threw herself into a mentoring program to help a lucky high-schooler (Shawna smiles through her tears as she watches at the penthouse) As Sharon watches from the sidelines, Mariah tears up as she wraps it up – Hilary would want them us to keep on buzzing. Good night Hilary; goodbye. ‘In memory of a dear friend and colleague – 1989-2018’. As Devon breaks down, Neil goes to him. Sending the crew to the bar, Mariah’s stunned to see Tessa – what are you doing here?! Tessa tells Mariah that she doesn’t have to choose. It might take a while but I promise to come back for you ~hug~

My Thoughts: Devon will be at the office if anyone needs him? Maybe the sobbing teenager you just hugged needs you. But really, it’s a petty comment. Of course Devon’s grieving and everyone grieves in their own way. It’s good that he broke down and it’s good that his Father is there for him. Today’s show was well done and actually made me choke up a couple of times. Both Mariah and Devon did a great job. And I was even happy to see Tessa at the end (and that doesn’t happen often) She’s pretty selfish to bail out on Devon after all he’s done for her. The least she could do is give two weeks notice and help hire and train her assistant. He certainly won’t be impressed to hear that she was in the very building but didn’t have the decency to say goodbye or make up some excuse as to why she’s quitting. I bet she hasn’t given notice to Nick either – he rented her an apartment when she was homeless. Perhaps now it can go to someone more worthy … Good point Jack – Dark Horse is 100% about a personal vendetta/revenge. Why else would Nick make a point of hiring everyone who left NE? … WTH is wrong with Summer? If she has issues with her Mother, ask her to get her own apartment and tell her what the problem is. Don’t go behind her back trying to hook up with the man she loves. It’s gross.
