Ignoring the knock at the door, Sharon and Nick’s kissing is interrupted when Nikki calls. I was in the kitchen, Sharon lies as she gestures for Nick to button his shirt up. Tidying herself, Sharon lets Nikki in. Pretending he’s just coming downstairs, Nick greets his Mom and is alarmed to hear that she’s cancelled today’s garden planting ceremony at Chancellor Park.
Hilary arrives at the club – I can’t believe this! She and her cameraman went to Chancellor Park to cover the garden planting but it’s been cancelled without a word from Nikki. When Devon goes over to calm Hilary down, she goes over to fawn over the adorable Sam. Believe it or not, she hopes Lily has a wonderful Mother’s Day.
Nikki tells Nick that she cancelled the ceremony because a couple of big donors couldn’t make it. She’s there to speak to Sharon about their new charity project. Sure, but let’s go to the main house (where Sharon apparently left her notes from their last meeting) As the ladies practically sprint out the door, Nick’s left sputtering – wait, I have something for Mom……
In the dining room, Abby updates her Mom; Kyle stole and restored the memory card but denies splicing it into the movie. Yes, she believes him. Ashley is inclined to as well – this blows Kyle’s life up too. No, we can’t tell Jack; absolutely not. Traci calls them back to watch Dina open more gifts (and talks about Mother’s Days gone by – John would always give her jewellery) And it was never enough, Jack scoffs – there must be a resemblance if she thinks I look like him. When Jack carries on about Dina sleeping with half the country club, Kyle gets in his face to demand he show his Mother some respect.
Now at the ranch, Nikki frets to Sharon – she couldn’t tell Nick that she called the garden planting off because they might unearth the body of the man she killed! Where is this coming from? Nikki confides that Kyle accused and taunted her – but he’s right, I killed his Mom, Reed’s Dad (and my own Father) Sharon reminds Nikki that she acted in self-defence; accidentally killing JT when protecting Vikki. Don’t fall apart now – your family needs you. Sharon then reads the card Vikki sent with flowers (thanking for Mom) Vikki survived this because of you. You’re a good person, a good Mother, Sharon’s hugging Nikki when Nick comes in to look surprised.
At HWG, Devon’s ordered up some lunch for Hilary (who won’t pretend she’s sorry Simone’s gone) Devon’s not interested in dating anyone; it would be too complicated right now. Hilary feels the same way.
Dabbing at her tears, Nikki’s just having an emotional day and missing Vikki. Nick understands; he and Sharon miss Noah. He then hands Nikki a Mother’s Day gift; a plaque for the new garden. ‘Relax, Reflect, Renew’. Sharon thinks it beautiful. Nick was going to present it to his Mom today; everyone will know you’re responsible for the garden. Nikki’s touched.
Following Traci to the den, Dina’s sure her Mother must be proud of the kind young woman. That leaves Jack to lash out at Kyle and then Ashley (who he thinks ‘just as bad’ as Dina for keeping Abby’s paternity a secret) Diane did the same thing, Jack rants – she deprived me of years with my son! Refusing to listen to his Mother being disrespected on Mother’s Day, Kyle gets an apology but walks out saying Jack owes everyone else one too.
Mother’s resting, Traci comes down to wonder where Kyle went. After Abby goes to look for her cousin, Traci scolds Jack – try to be a decent son; find some forgiveness – this might be Dina’s last Mother’s Day. She won’t remember it but WE will. Traci’s moved to tears when Dina calls her by name and gives her a thank you hug for the beautiful scarf. Ashley and Jack are both deeply moved as well.
Still seated at the club, Cane calls upon the kids to list reasons Lily’s a great Mom. Lily talks about how much she misses her Mother, Dru; she’d have been crazy about you kids. Sam won’t have memories of his Mom, the twins look sad. We’ll tell him stories and show him pictures. No, it’s not the same, Lily agrees sadly.
Upstairs in the office, Hilary’s in tears as she wishes her Mom was alive. Devon comes over to assure Hilary that her Mom’s with her in spirit; every step of the way.
