Jack finds Gloria researching Jabot’s new chemist on her computer and worrying that he’ll be distracted by Helen’s beauty. On cue, Helen arrives to be introduced to Gloria. How do you like your coffee? Triple, half sweet, soy, no foam latte, please. Following Helen into his office, Jack hopes Gloria wrote that down.
At HWG, Devon shares his idea for more of a magazine show – a new topical theme every day. No, not showcasing Hilary’s talents but rather the talent of Devon’s clients and artists (starting with Simone) Hilary objects to booking a nobody and Mariah handling all the music segments (when she recovers) Yes, Mariah IS ‘ready’, Devon grins – isn’t it great working together again?
Nick and Phyllis are seated on the patio. He really wants her to drop this thing with Chelsea; the woman he loves. Well no, Phyllis hasn’t found any concrete evidence but demands another 48 hours to come up with some. If not, she’ll drop it. As Nick leaves, Sharon arrives. That man is too trusting for his own good, Phyllis comments.
Still in her office, Vikki continues to grumble to Victor about Ashley making this deal. It’s a win for you, Victor doesn’t see the problem. He doesn’t need Vikki to prove how capable she is. Vikki pouts and sounds like a toddler – I want to be the best. Ashley has years of experience, Victor wants Vikki to learn from her.
No, Jack doesn’t want Helen to replace all things Ashley. Her job is to build on the great things Ashley achieved and take it to the next level. Helen’s confident she can do that.
Now inside, Phyllis confides in Sharon that she has 48 hours to prove her theory to Nick. Hearing that he took the found money to the police, Phyllis leaves with an idea on how to meet her deadline.
Looking for Ashley (who he’s having lunch with) Billy stops by Vikki’s office to ask where his sister is. Vikki whines about Ashley going after the top spot at NE. Why didn’t she get the CEO job at Jabot? she wonders what Billy knows that she doesn’t.
When Lauren arrives, Gloria admits she’d almost rather have Ashley back over Helen. Why? Lauren wonders, the is shown a photo online. Gloria’s sure that Jack and Helen will get involved romantically. On cue, Jack and Helen happily head off to celebrate over lunch at Top of the Tower. Gloria looks grief-stricken and Lauren has no words of comfort to offer.
Badgered on why Ashley left Jabot, Billy won’t spill – it doesn’t concern anyone outside the family. Ashley’s crushed and Jack’s feeling guilty. Gotta go, Billy escapes without revealing anything else except that Jack’s determined to get Ashley back at Jabot.
When Chelsea arrives to order coffee, Sharon wastes no time tattling that Nick was here earlier – with Phyllis. Forget the coffee, Chelsea bolts.
Hilary continues to blast Devon – is this even my show anymore? Will you rename it the Mariah and Hilary Hour? And when Devon thinks she’s overreacting, Hilary accuses him of implying that she’s hormonal because she’s pregnant.
Meeting Ashley as she gets off the elevator at Top of the Tower, Billy suggests they lunch at a restaurant that Jack and Helen aren’t celebrating at. He tags along as Ashley goes over to force Jack into awkward introductions. Congratulating Helen, Ashley quips with a smile – good luck working with your new boss. Helen’s left to say it was nice of Ashley to be so encouraging.
Back at HWG, Hilary hopes that when she IS pregnant, Devon won’t dismiss her ideas as hormonal. If he liked her show enough to buy it, why does he now want to change it? Devon’s not trying to change Hilary – he respects her opinions but look at this market research. We can make the show better.
Having a whispered chat at Jabot, Phyllis is glad to hear that Lauren hasn’t put the money in the bank yet. She wants to borrow 10K. If it doesn’t provide the answers she’s looking for she’ll drop the whole thing.
