Vikki reminds Billy that her doctor told her to take some time away from work – we can’t burn the candle at both ends. Everything’s fine, there’s no lasting effects from her mild concussion. When Benjamin appears unexpectedly, Vikki guesses he wanted to see her office. His pompous manner rubs Billy the wrong way but Vikki seems charmed.
Pouring coffee, Phyllis explains her plan to have Benjamin keep Vikki busy. Yes, he’s sleazy but he’s a handsome venture capitalist. Maybe he can swoop in and save BnS; making Billy a 9-5er again. Or he can make a bigger mess for Vikki and Billy to clean up, Lauren sees another kink in Phyllis’ plan; what if Benjamin hooks up with Vikki? Then, it’s win-win-win, Phyllis is thrilled by the idea.
This isn’t really a date, Vikki corrects Ben; who then tells Billy that’s he’s networking, exploring opportunities. When Ben steps out to take a call, Billy warns Vikki (who already knows Hawkman’s reputation) I know what I’m doing – Vikki wants to take advantage of Ben’s connections. With a cheery ‘good night’, she leaves with her date.
Mariah looks at Tessa’s hands in hers – you’re OK with what just happened? Tessa thinks they both got a little carried away; excited to be in a new environment. We’re both dating great guys. The kiss will go in the vault. The boys then burst in to hug/kiss their ladies (who look at one another)
Lauren suggests Chinese take out but Phyllis shoots that down. And no, she doesn’t have any wine. In fact, can this business wait til tomorrow? When Billy comes home to hope he’s not interrupting anything, Lauren takes the hint and makes a hasty exit. You owe me a bottle of wine, she whispers as Phyllis shows her out. Billy unpacks his paper bag; margaritas. Pleased, Phyllis locks the front door.
Scotts’s finishes his report by saying he’s doing an expose on sex trafficking in the Midwest; the nightmare next door. Abby applauds Scott but don’t split your focus – assign a female reporter. Thinking this story will get Hashtag and Newman Digital Media noticed, he asks that Victor trust him as he does Abby. Victor wraps up the meeting by expecting both divisions to have better numbers next quarter.
Jack serves up the tastiest, if not the biggest fish in the lake. Not bad, but next time we’ll cook together, Nikki hopes there’ll be a next time. Jack’s counting on it. She then thinks it time to discuss the elephant in the room. Does the elephant have a moustache? Jack quips.
Noah and Devon tell Tessa that some bigwig in the industry liked a video they showed him of her performaning at Underground. Devon’s glad she and Noah came along. The plan of the girls going to one concert, the boys another is changed by Mariah; who now wants some couples time. All file out of the suite.
Jack knows that some people (like Ashley) wonder if he’s spending time with Nikki to get under Victor’s skin. Nikki’s making her own decisions and is exactly where (and with who) she wants to be. Jack expects Victor to cause trouble and will back off if that’s what Nikki wants. I’m in the driver’s seat, Nikki puts a forkful of fish in Jack’s mouth.
Nick thinks Scott’s blog warning about these sex rings is a good idea. Scott arrives on the rooftop, a bit late because he had to report in with Victor. Sharon referees the tension – let’s not do this. The men continuing to butt heads about Victor, Nick doesn’t need a lecture on his Dad.
Having made a pitcher of Margaritas, Billy’s sorry he’s been so obsessed with work. Phyllis is the most important woman in his life. He then blathers on about Vikki going out for dinner with a corporate shark Benjamin Hawkman. Yes, Phyllis knows who he is.
Taking a seat on the rooftop, Vikki spots her brother. Benjamin would love to meet him – another night. He’d rather get to know Vikki – tell me about Brash n Sassy. She tells him that sales are good and she’s happy being the sole owner; no investors clamouring for profit. Benjamin knows he’s reputed to be all about money but he also values personal relationships that can be nurtured to mutual benefit.
Vikki looks bored when Ben lists off what sounds like a dating site profile. She then provides her own hobbies and status of being married – to her work. She doesn’t play games – what you see is what you get. Vikki thinks Ben transparent in hoping she’ll make the mistake of bringing him on as a consultant or investor. Her head goes fuzzy as Ben rambles on about a joint business venture. Let’s get out of here (Vikki’s suddenly hungry – but not for food)
