While Jack was fighting for his marriage, Phyllis was making a fool of him with his own brother (like she did with Nick) He assumes they laughed at his expense in bed. We wanted to come clean so many times. If you wanted me to know, you’d have told me! You’re a coward! Phyllis didn’t want to break Jack’s heart – and likens Billy to Jack’s addiction to pills. Learning that Jill knew, Jack knows Phyllis broke things off with Billy because she was forced to, not because she wanted to.
Neil calls Jack from the club – hope you’re on your way, we have an interview. On cue, Lois, the Chronicle’s interviewer arrives. Neil flirts and thanks her for the opportunity. Let’s go upstairs and set up while we wait for Jack.
Lily thanks Cane for the bracelet he brought her from Seattle. She’s so proud that he stood up to Jill. Cane doesn’t think Jill’s scheme will work – Vikki seems happy with Travis. Lily’s glad – she deserves better than Billy.
Back at Jabot, Vikki continues to pressure Billy. He’s tired of Jill micro-managing him and would like the chance to do something on his own. Getting a call, Vikki steps out (leaving Travis to grill Billy on the state they found the office in) You’re just a guy sleeping with my ex, Billy scoffs. He doesn’t want to hurt Vikki. Then don’t, Travis says simply.
On the rooftop, Lois won’t promise she won’t throw any curve-balls – I’m full of surprises. As she goes to instruct her cameraman, Neil asks Ashley where Jack is. He’s not coming – Ashley hopes Neil can do the interview alone.
Jill forced the issue but she was right, the affair had to stop – it drove Phyllis crazy what she was doing to Jack (who she can’t lose) Yes, Billy had a hard time accepting that it was over. And was it hard for you? Did you love him? Jack realizes she did. Yes, I loved you both – but I chose you in the end. The end?! Anything we were or could have been you just destroyed! As Jack walks out, Phyllis has a fit and sobs on the floor.
Billy imploding will only secure Cane’s spot at Brash n Sassy. Lily’s mind is on Neil, his Mother and the fact that his addiction was inherited. She’s sorry they missed so many years together. Cane lists all the people who love Neil – that won’t be taken away.
On the rooftop, Neil apologizes to Lois. But wait, here’s Jack. Ashley comes over to pull Jack away – are you OK? Don’t I look OK? Jack doesn’t want to talk about Phyllis. Neil comes over to pull Jack back to the interview.
Vikki and Billy are now alone – did you drive (seems Billy’s bad mood drove Travis out) Vikki wants to know what’s going on with Billy. I’m fine, he insists. Vikki wants to help – we’re becoming friends. Not tonight, Billy shuts her up. As she bends down to fiddle with her laptop case, Phyllis races in – I told Jack everything; he knows about us. Us? What us? Vikki stands.
You’re having an affair with Phyllis? Vikki’s not impressed – my God – what is wrong with you? Both of you? She thought Billy’d gotten his life together for the kids but he’s what he’s always been – a complete disappointment to anyone who’s ever loved him!
As Ashley watches nervously from the bar, Neil tells Lois about the Foundation. Jack’s distracted – then asked to comment on addiction. We understand the value of unconditional support, he says – whether the drug is alcohol, cocaine, gambling. Addicts convince themselves that they have their priorities straight but they can relapse, fall down a hole, hit rock bottom and take you down with them. Ashley, Lois and Neil all look alarmed.
