At the revolving door, Lily and Cane are left alone to bicker. Devon and Hilary come down – insisting they speak to Cane. He hopes their marriage is just like this (miserable) You don’t really want to push Lily away, Devon says as he leads Hilary off. Cane wants sole custody of the kids. Are you out of your mind? Lily snaps. When Mike comes in, she asks what she ever did to him. Excuse me? When Lily assumes Mike’s representing him, Cane says ‘damn right he is’.
Mike didn’t know why Cane wanted to see him; he’ll take his share of blame but don’t make this worse – reach an agreement that’s best for your kids, your family and that doesn’t rob you of a chance at repairing the marriage. It’s obvious you two love each other – fix it! Lily would do anything to fix it. As Cane glares, Mike warns him that he’ll soon be alone, living with regret and wondering how he got there. Search your heart – forgive your wife before it’s too late.
Nikki would like to believe Victor but he’s told so many lies, who can trust his version of events? Phyllis stuns her – Jack was carrying a gun and worried Victor might shoot him. Nikki’s pissed that Phyllis didn’t come forward, and now believes Victor shot Jack in self defense. She mocks the ‘2’ – this can’t be solved with yes of no answers. Nikki will go tell the police that Jack has a gun! On her way out, Nikki finds Sage looking for her OBGYN. She’s having heartburn. Nikki tells her to trust her maternal instincts – bye!
Guy likes negotiating with a woman; Abby’s easy on the eyes. She’s so thirsty for champagne – but they can’t drink til they agree to a deal. As they negotiate, Ben’s beeper goes off. Abby laughs at a 75% pay raise. She’s willing to offer 3%. When Guy comes back at 60%, Abby lowers hers. All pretense of ditzy blonde is gone – you just cost your workers thousands. Still want to play this game?
On the CL’s patio, Avery sits to do her Q&A with a reporter. She stumbles when saying the accused have been charged with rape, then talks about taking the law into her own hands. I held a man at gunpoint. I wanted to kill him. I can’t prosecute this case. I’m taking a leave of absence. I was raped. We’re not supposed to say that in public – there’s a stigma – paralyzing shame. I didn’t want to be a victim. I’m Avery Bailey Clark, I take control. Declining a break, a weepy Avery talks about her ex husband being a loathsome man but he didn’t rape me. I’m ashamed of my actions. I’ll regret them the rest of my life. Oh look, here’s Joe.
Phyllis tells Jack that Ashley found a gun at Chelsea’s – the police are on it. Is that what you meant? Two guns? Phyllis wants Jack to let her know if she did the right thing.
In the hallway, Ashley bumps into Dr Rayburn – how did he and Abby celebrate? She’s working, Ben informs.
Adam returns to the penthouse to find that Paul has a warrant – an anonymous tip claims there’s a gun hidden there. This is someone trying to discredit me? Put him in a cell instead of running Newman-Abbott. Who could possibly benefit from that? Chelsea jumps in to remind that she has a child here – Adam wouldn’t bring a firearm here without telling me. As Adam agrees, Victor’s cop finds the hidden gun.
As Hilary’s hoping she and Devon don’t end up like the Ashby’s, Mike’s across the room scolding them (then leaving them to think) Lily’s tried to explain – but Cane won’t listen. Cane can’t get past this. You made a conscious choice to sleep with Joe – maybe you were coming on to him all along. How many other guys have you been with? Lily slaps him.
Now alone on the patio, Avery tells Joe that she feels ashamed. Why’d she tell the reporter? Joe didn’t press charges and wouldn’t have told anyone. Avery respects the law and herself too much not to come clean. So what’s next? Joe asks.
Abby doesn’t take kindly to being called lady, but can’t we make a deal? We all benefit – and drink champagne, she again offers her original 3.5% Now let’s pour that champagne.
At GCM, Ashley and Ben toast (with coffee) to new beginnings. Phyllis then comes out to wonder if she imagined Jack communicating with her. No, Ben thinks it plausible. In the service, guys woke up from locked in syndrome and remembered what happened around them. If Jack can communicate again, it’d be a good sign of recovery.
Neither Chelsea nor Adam have ever seen the gun before. It’s a bit convenient don’t you think? Paul will make a list of people who’ve had access to the apartment. But if there’s any connection between that gun and Jack, ‘Gabe’ has some explaining to do. Now alone, Chelsea flips on Adam – tell me the truth!! Did you put that gun in there!?
Back on the patio, Avery doesn’t know what’s next but she has a clean conscience and wants to leave GC and start over. You should too – Avery can’t imagine what’s left for Joe here.
Lily snarls – fine – she can be just as mean and nasty – no way is Cane taking her kids. Watch me, he whispers calmly.
Devon shows Hilary some photos of a wedding planner the Forresters use – or we could go away for a destination wedding. Yes, we’re really doing this.
Sage tells the reception nurse that she wants to have a paternity test.
Abby can’t believe they finished the whole bottle of bubbly – you and I sit down and boom – just like that. We really broke some ground today. When Guy asks if she needs a ride home, Abby’s delighted to follow him out on wobbly legs.
